The times were once again incorrect. I don’t know what
is going on here. Last meeting I agreed with all of their times but once
again
they were all around 0.30 faster than I got off the video. I have shown
my video
times below as there is absolutely no way you can get the times they got
officially.

There was a bias towards on pace runners. All flat winners
either led or sat outside the leader. Whether it was because of the track
condition or just the fastest horses were on the pace is the question. I tend
to favour the latter.

Some very good performances on the day headed of
course by Time Keeper. He just keeps going to a new level. The track played
evenly and I’ve spotted a number of horses to definitely watch out for next up.
The disappointment of the day was Aspinal not winning. As you will see from the
sectionals, she should have won comfortably if she was as good as I thought she
was. Maybe she just needs more ground but you couldn’t back her with confidence
until you have seen her next start.

The Good track was a concern but she showed no dislike for it and held on to
win well. She has a high leg action and should be even better as the tracks
get deeper, so she is in for a good season. Irish Colleen dashed late and will also appreciate any easing of
the track. Rest had their chance.

badly throughout and was checked in the back wash. The rider said she is

run out under the right had whip, then Spratt surprisingly didn’t or couldn’t
change hands to the left side but persisted in using the right hand whip and
ran out under it again costing it the win. She closed hard and was a stride
too late. If she had changed to the left side it would probably have won. A
nice ride for a left hand rider is up for grabs there. Simfinnarley trailed and battled on well for third. The rest had

Good pace: Katheleen Angels
won this at the start when she flew out and was able to cross them. She had
the rail advantage from there and won nicely. She has been a bit weak so it
was an improved effort. Sanriba stuck on well for second.
Hayden said about Special Steps:
‘Very big and heavy horse that struggled with the speed over 1000m. Jumped ok and had the pace to be with the pace makers but failed to keep up the tempo.
Was pushed a little wide from the 2nd horse pushing out 500m from home then weakened. Has a small wind problem so that will stop him from showing his full potential. Didn't feel like a $1.40 shot.’
The rest were out-paced.

allowed to settle into the 1x1 without having to do much work and challenged
hard 100m out and edged away. His run for second at Avondale indicated he was
