Te Teko selections below

Te Teko

Good morning,

A fine day on a Good 3 track looks ideal for a good day of racing at Te Teko. Some nice horses going round. No Good Confidence bets but there are a couple of favourites that look like they will make a nice multi.

Race 1

Confidence: 1/5

2.Thailand was beaten home by Princess Davone last start with the same weight difference but had to cover more ground from the 600m and the tempo suited on paced runners. And her last 600m was 3 lengths quicker. So in the smaller field, where she will settle closer to her or even in front of her, she should beat her home with the same weight difference. RP $3.50, $3.10 FF

1.Princess Davone had every chance in a stronger R70 field last start. Has the three best FRs ( Formpro Ratings) on a fast to Dead track here but carries clear topweight. Should get a good run but difficult to go hard on a mare that has won 3 from 27 starts.

5.Iffraajinator beat a weak field at Matamata on a Good track that was a bit slippery. Last start in a stronger R65 field she shared the pace on the inner and folded 100m out. Drops to 52.5kgs in a weaker field and may get a soft lead and be the one to upset.

Race 2

Confidence: 2/5

10.Together in both trials didn’t show much early speed and settled 4th and 5th in both early. But in her last trial she impressed getting over the leaders late very comfortably. She didn’t look around as much as she did in her first trial either. He closing sectionals of 22.18 ( last 400m ) and 11.17 Last 200m was faster than Ferrando’s in the Open heat of 22.70 and 11.76. The trial official times were well out with Ferrando running 59.17 and Together 59.56. So  this well bred filly certainly has the ability to settle behind the leaders and get over these. RP $2.50, $2.50 FF

2.Virtuoso Lad 1st $6 after being given a top ride by Troy Harris.  looked good winning his trial on a good track then raced twice on slow tracks and didn’t kick on. He has a dry track action so from the good draw he can be right in this.

1.Show ‘N’ Go drew 1 on debut, led and tired late to get run down for second. Then second up battled when out from a similar inside draw. He has been given time to strengthen up but has drawn wide here so is going to have to use petrol up to get handy with good early speed inside him.

6.Mellors  won his recent trial under a ride and the second horse wasn’t pushed and failed on debut.

Race 3

Confidence: 2/5

3.Copper Mine has looked very good at the trials and has been waiting for a decent surface and a draw. He has a nice quick sprinting action. Gets that here and strike the right field to win on debut. RP $1.70, $1.60

6.Devine Love  will be improved by her second up run when on a good tempo and only wilted over the last 100m to hold on for third. A better track will suit as will the good draw.

2.Picture This  was a bit unlucky last start. Drawn wide so needs luck.

1.Stand Tall  had his chance when fighting on for second on debut after racing keenly early in a weak maiden in a slow speed rating.

Race 4

The speed map shows Link Road and Ambitious Winner should share an even pace.

Confidence: 1/5 in a race with a few chances.

7.Miss Foxy Gal  looked good in her first 3 starts this campaign. She showed an above average finishing burst. Then ran a good 4th over 1800m at New Plymouth. Freshened up and drawn to get all favours.  RP $4.50

3.Siren Call is bred to win a few races and won strongly here over 1200m. She ran on well on the tighter Wairoa track . back here from the good draw looks better for her.

6.My Dakota  won well at Ellerslie beating the smart Felaar with a gap to the rest.

2.Ambitious Winner  1st $3.80 should get a good sit 2nd outer and if he can control the tempo from there, is right in this. One of the few horses backed in early today from $5.50 to $4.20 FF

4.Smart Thinking  had an issue with the vet last start but won very well in a good speed rating in her maiden win before that. If there is money for her, she has to be a chance.

Race 5

Confidence: 2/5 Le Castille looks the best horse but will need things to go her way and settle better so no anchor.

9.Le Castile  1st $5.20  looked good unleashing on debut after getting out wider on the turn and getting up for third. Then last month was held up 200m out and hit the line well late. Nice looking filly ideally suited to 1400m now and her action suggests a Good track suits.  Negatives are she was a bit keen last start and will need to settle better off a slower tempo here. The trainer, Mark Blackie said on NzRacing “She’s definitely a fast track horse and 1400m at Te Teko should suit her down to the ground. I think she’s going to be very hard to beat.” RP $4

8.Fleur Delacour  battled on well in front of Le Castille last start and 1400m will help.

10.Stella Daze  ran on well last start. Fitter now and 1400m will suit from a good draw.

1.Laurima  ran two strong finishing races before not firing in a much strong Spec Cond race at Ellerslie.

5.Bits And Pieces  gets her down and relaxes well so the step to 1400m should suit from a good draw.

Race 6

Confidence: 1/5 in an open race- go wide in the quaddie.

8.Ostrava in his trial settled nicely 5th outer but was blocked when travelling well after turning in. He finished off full of running just outside the leaders. Well bred out of a Zabeel mare. Looks ready to fire from a good draw on debut. RP $4.50

Dangers in order:

4.Draiochta last start had the blinkers go on and led. He got a soft lead ( Same 200m sectionals to the 600m mark as the slowly run R70 race) and got well beaten by a couple of handy horses. Would need to improve a couple of lengths which you would expect from the Baker/Forsman stable.

11.Surveillance  had every chance last start in a weaker field and the speed rating was below average. She should appreciate the 1400m now and drawn the inside which may not be the best place.

7.San Siro  looked much better winning his trial right handed after looking awkward 4 days earlier left handed. Has had 5 trials and is ready to go.

5.Pop ‘n’ Rock  did well on debut after being slow away and ran on well in the slower inner ground. Big horse suited to 1400m on a Good track and drfawn well.

2.Sokitome 1st $13.50  last start ran his best race but got the perfect run and closed off nicely but a bit one paced for a close second. Gets 3kgs off this time. More of a place chance if they go hard enough.

Race 7

The speed map shows a moderate tempo.

Confidence: 1/5

4.Justamaiz 1st $4.20 quad $1555  after looking very ready before the start.  three starts back ran a strong second to the hot favourite and handy horse Tavlin and third was subsequent winner Sacred Party. Then next start he sweated up profusely before the race and had nothing to offer in the straight. Then last start he sweated up again but not as bad, but got caught 3 wide in the open off a moderate tempo so had no chance but held his ground in the run home. If he looks more settled before the start, he has the ability to win this from a good draw on a good track. RP $4.50

10.Super Hunter  ran a game second here over 1400m when leading and being run down by a handy horse in Our McKay. Drawn to lead again and if left alone could steal this.

1.Crimson Glory closed off strongly last start and if they go hard, could get over them late. Backed in early from $8 to $6FF

9.Regal Dancer  maps to get a good run. Had every chance last start so more of a place chance.

11.Soda  on debut ran on well for third over 1400m then last start didn’t finish it off after getting a good run. Will be fitter for that and a good track will help. Still looks a bit weak though.
