Hanger returns to the Birdcage after a decisive win at Matamata
I’ve already had my quota of Hot Cross buns and Easter eggs and done most of the form for Saturday. It has been a sweet start to the week with Hanger winning the last at Matamata as the only Good Confidence bet so far this week. I was keen to see how settled and fit he was before the race so went over to see him in the flesh and it certainly paid off. He looked very ready and bolted in. On returning to scale, rider Leith Innes mentioned that he does seem better left handed. He’s had his tricks before but based on that win where it was the fastest speed rating all day and an above average last 600m on the day as well, considering the tempo, he looks like he can go on with it now. The 50 Unit Bank bets made a small profit of 7 units last week after 3 weeks of losses and 8 weeks of profits. The balance stands at 62 units after Hanger’s win. I’ve sorted out two Good confidence bets for Saturday here in the early preview. Apologies but no Heads Up this weekend, but The Money Shot and I will be back in the flesh for next Friday.
Then yesterday at Wanganui, the two main bets for the day, Starossa $5 and Tuscan Whistler $3.80 got the predicted ideal runs to win and won strongly. Piriwai $2FF made the price for Tuscan Whistler, who with one glance at the speed map showed he would need to snag or if it went forward was likely to get caught wide, and that’s exactly what happened. He jumped ok but eased then was caught wide so sent it forward and was caught 3 wide in the open. Meanwhile Troy Harris was smoking his pipe handy on the rail and once he got out on the slower inner ground, still had enough ability to put them away. Piriwai was gone 150 metres out. The multi on both returned $190 for every $10 which a few subscribers grabbed.

I’ve had some good suggestions for the betting syndicates with the lack of Terminating Pick 6s. E.g. Jackpot First 4 , Bonus quaddies. Melbourne Saturday quaddie, etc. Keep them coming as I’ll be deciding next week.
