Rotorua

As there is every Monday, there is a free login to the Greyhound Ratings but ‘Wait, there’s more!’. You can also get the Rotorua and Riverton Ratings as well. David was right on the button last week with his best bet and Lay of the day, and he tends to hate losing, so watch out for those later in the day.

Rotorua has come up a Dead 5 and with a fine day forecast, it could get an upgrade.

I haven’t previewed Riverton but with accesss to the Ratings, just use the Filter to find the best wet track performers. E.g. Shakti rated clearly on top in race 4 on Saturday and paid $27!

I’ll update by noon with any other bets.

Race 1

5.Spindle  looks well placed here. She won over 1400m at Ellerslie and rated well last start in a stronger R75 race at Ellerslie. Drawn to get a good run. Negative is most of her runs and form is right handed. But should be ok this way round now. RP $4.50, $6.80 FF

Dangers:

7.Don’t Think Twice   ran some good races in strong company last campaign. Was well backed to win fresh up but could not get a clear run at them in the straight and had a bit to offer.

1.One Prize One Goal  drops in class and drawn to get a good run.

9.Cancellara  good run fr4esh and flat second up. Drawn well with 2kgs off.

Race 2

Confidence: 2/5

4.Queen Of The Air  looked good in her pre-race trial and did well to almost win after being 3w on the pace over 800m. Then last start was galloped on and battled the last bit at Trentham. She trialed recently, led then sat 2nd outer and was never pushed to run a close second. She drops her head and relaxes well, and from the inside draw, should get an ideal run and with the weight advantage over the favourite, can beat him and the others. RP $2.50, $3.20

Dangers:

1.Nirvana In Fire  ran good races and spelled. Led all the way in a recent trial getting a soft lead. Drawn on the outer here and may have to work to get across and be vulnerable late.

Race 3

Confidence: 2/5

7.Lucyinrio 2nd $2.20  two starts ran second to Miss Wilson who got a cosy trail at level weights rating an FR ( Formpro rating) of 111. She also rated 113 when only 3L from Charmont in the Gr 1 Thoroughbred over 1600m. In her recent trial she looked ready to fire fresh when cruising in the lead and bolting in. Side Winkers go on. She maps to lead or sit 2nd outer on a moderate tempo and  she can geta  break on these near the turn and be hard to run down. RP $4, $7.80 Ff

Dangers:

1.Go Nicholas 1st $3.90 qu $16.50 ran a close second here last start and 1400m will suit third up.

5.Howboutdat ran on well here behind Go Nicholas last start and the 1400m will suit better.

3.Bisou Bisou  was held up at a vital stage in that same race and drawn the ace again.

Race 4

Confidence: 2/5

4.Ladynadel  has been rating strongly in better fields. Maps to get a good run and be the one to beat. RP $4

Dangers:

7.O’Sam  won well last start and maps to get a good run again.

1.Lala Land  got a soft lead last start and won well. Drawn to get a good run.

8.Podravina  won well last start and looks a progressive type.

Race 5

Confidence: 1/5

6.Buy Me a Rock  closed off strongly for third in a strong field in good time last start. 1560m looks ideal and drawn well.

Dangers:

2.Prince Mambo  is back in class and with a good beginning can land 2nd outer or lead and could pinch it.

11.Lady Shabeel   has won twice here and if they go hard, is weighted to make it three here.

1.Sasanof’s Hero 1st $10 freshened up and with 4kgs off, could swamp them late.

Race 6

Confidence: 2/5

2.Passing Shot 1st $3.40  produces his best when he can lead on the rail – his last four wins have been from in front. So from the inside draw, he can do that and I can’t see anything wanting to take him on, and Samantha just needs to save as much as she can to the 400 mark and they should prove very hard to run down.

Dangers:

4.Volks Lighting  had her chance last start and battled late. This is easier though and drawn to be the main danger.

6.Elusive Treasure is the Tesla of the race with no driver declared, but Trudy Thornton usually rides him. Good third here last start.

7.Ballybay  is likely to get over 2nd outer and if he can settle and keep the pressure off Passing Shot, he can hold on for a place with the lighter weight.

Race 7

Confidence: 1/5

1.Carson River  fought well for second fresh up and is going to win more races. RP $5

Dangers:

7.Ottavio  has won here and led all the way to win his trial recently. Looks to have strengthened up as well.

10.Orphea freshened up and stable is firing. Rates on top in the Formpro Ratings after weight adjustments. ( Just click on the ‘ADJ’ header)

14.Precious Miss  did her best work late last start. Good pace should suit.

8.Belle Fascino  freshened up and if the inside is ok, can win.

15.Jet Charged  is capable of flying home with the right run and could upset.

Race 8

Confidence: 1/5

1.Nabiac 1st $5.70 quad $996  did well here last start after being hampered by the winner. Drawn to get all favours. RP $5

Dangers:

5.Narvick  top run two starts back and not all favours at Trentham. This is easier.

7.Korakonui  fair run in the St Leger last start. This is easier with Opie up.

12.Tourmaline  is a quick improver over more ground.
