The track has come back from a Heavy 10 to Slow 9 and with a fine day forecast, it should at least stay that way. The early preview of Saturday can be seen here and will be updated by 5 p.m. along with the new look Heads Up video with the Money Shot and I previewing this weekend’s races and other stuff.

Race 1

Confidence: 1/5

1.Beale Street 1st $2.90    won his trial well then worked early on debut to get 2nd outer then wilted 100m out over 1200m. The 1000m here will suit. RP $4.50

Dangers:

2.La Rocetta has been leading and getting run down. 1000m will suit with 3kgs off.

6.Sakhee’s Secret ran a close 2nd to a good horse second up last campaign. Heavy track should be ok.

7.Boundary  ran a good third fresh up last campaign and will be stronger now.

Race 2

Confidence: 2/5

7.Bravissimo 4th strong second two back running past race rival Giant Gem over 1200m and ran on well here late last start on a better track in a stronger maiden. She has an ideal action for a slow to heavy track and drawn to get a winning run. RP $2.90, $3.80 FF

Dangers:

3.Giant’s Gem 1st $3.20 Tri $56 First 4 $147  good third behind Bravissimo last start. Fitter now.

6.Birdie Blitz 2nd $1.80 may be suited by the 1400m now.

2.Comeback 3rd $2 battled well for third on debut and 1400m will suit better.

Race 3

Confidence: 2/5

7.Aniceta 1st $1.90 ran a strong third from the back last start when she sweated up a bit so would definitely improve with that. I’m sure she will win at least a maiden race. The negative is the Slow 9 track with her action but she may get away with it against these. RP $2, $1.55 Ff

Dangers:

2.Stevie’s Surprise getting better with each run and drawn to get all favours with 3kgs off.

5.Grand Eagle 2nd $1 ran home well out wide for fourth in his trial and he is a nice galloper.

Race 4

Confidence: 2/5

Brilliant Action 2nd got terms to suit last start and just kept on fighting. If he gets the same good terms in front, they will hard stretched to run him down as he just keeps finding. RP $4

Dangers:

4.Korakonui ran on well for fourth in a race that suited on pace runners.

3.Raise The Phantom good third at Trentham and a heavy track will suit

Race 5

Confidence: 2/5

1.Soroc  2nd $2.60 has had a freshener and back to 1200m on a heavy track suits. Good tough horse well drawn who will carry his 60kgs well and he has won here on a heavy 11 track and won on a Good track at Ellerslie. RP $4, $7

Dangers:

3.The Chaser 1st $2.80 qu $14  did really well to win last start in a similar time to the R65 race and did it 3 wide in the open. Improved lengths off his fresh run and with further improvement, will be right in this.

4.Colorado Boy  won fresh up here on a heavy track with Troy Harris up. They team up again.

Race 6

Confidence: 2/5

9.Marzemino  1st $1.70  kept closing strong against the winner Cheeky Bee on debut over 1150m on a Dead 6 track. The sectional splits and race time compared well to the R65 race. Being from the Peter and Dawn Williams stable, she will be improved from that and with the 3kgs off, looks hard to beat. RP $2.20, $2.20 FF

Dangers:

1.Louis Fourteen ran a game second two back and was only 2.2L from the winner last start after being tightened late. Will be fitter for that too.

Race 7

Confidence: 2/5

2.Blackjack Man  1st $7.90  ran a game second fresh up here in a faster time than the R75 race. He was a bit flat second up on the better surface. Back on a Slow 9 track with a bit of a freshener, and over 1400m, suits ideally. RP $4.50, $8

Dangers:

1.Alvin’s Dream ran on strongly second up over 1300m. He has won on a Slow 9 track and third up over 1400m looks ideal.

4.Lips Of An Angel 2nd  is a nice looking filly and won well last start after getting all favours. Slow track should be ok.

11.Our McKay has the ability to win and has the blinkers going on.
