3. Lupelani
7. Just For Kicks
Leg 2: 1. Tweedledee
6. Boundary
7. Fly To The Moon
Leg 3: 4. Ali Baba
Leg 4: 2. Gingee

14. Wilbermere

Race 6 5.20 p.m.

Confidence: 3/5

5.Prezado Scratched at the barrier did very well fresh up when outfinished late by Bandipur, who was race fit. He’s a big horse and will improve ideally for this. He won second up at Flemington in fast time over 1000m beating Bandipur. The map shows he should settle around 5th or 6th behind an even tempo, and should be too good for these. RP $1.90, $2.80 FF

Race 6 6.20 p.m.

Confidence: 4/5

3.Esperance 3rd after being hunted out and racing too keenly- not an intelligent ride! looked good last campaign closing well at Flemington for sixth in a Group 2 1200m race in good time and closing sectionals. He got back fresh up over 1100m off a moderate tempo but once balanced up closed off very strongly with real strength for second in the best Speed rating all day. He looked fresh before the start, so the instructions were to ride him cold and do what he did. This time, he is fitter and drawn to get into a good spot and from there, is going to be very hard to keep out. RP $1.70, $2.20 FF

Good morning,

The rain has arrived so it is going to be a heavy 11 by race time and the inside will likely go off later in the day. I have two runners from the Sectional Specials stable racing in Australia and will post those in the update at noon when scratchings etc are known.

Bet of the day at Matamata Race 7 4.Ali Baba $2.40 Ff 1st $2.30

Value bet of the day Race 1. 5.Azabeat $7.50 FF

Race 1

5.Azabeat two starts back ran a game 5th in a stronger maiden rating a Formpro Rating of 96, which is certainly good enough to win any midweek maiden. He ran on ok on a Dead track last start after getting too far back. His dam, Art Beat, won 5 from 18 starts on a heavy track and his action says he will relish it. RP $4.50, $7.50 FF

2.Go Go Goal  fitter and obvious danger.

3.Hunua Hank  Tiley trained with 3kgs off which is always a good combo.

Race 2

Confidence: 2/5

12.Imelda Mary   rated strongly last campaign but unknown on a heavy track. Actions says she could handle it with the light weight aboard to help.

4.Carreleur  will be ready to fire fresh up.

3.Katie Perrie rates well and will be ready to go after a quirt trial.

Race 3

Confidence: 1/5

6.Zappeur ready to go fresh after a nice 3rd in his trial. Heavy track ok.

4.Good Vibes  rates on top in the ratings and gets 4kgs off.

2,Saint Croix goes well here and a heavy track is no problem.

1.Iffnot Wainot  won well here last start. Harder but heavy track will help.

Race 4

Confidence: 2/5

8.JustTreasure  third up after a nice 3rd last over 1200m. Blinkers go on over 1400m and looks the one. RP $3.90

6.Don’t Lie To Me  will be ready to fire fresh.

10.Langbein  good run last start and fitter.

Race 5

Confidence: 2/5

3.Lupelani with the 3kgs off gets her chance to win again. She was beaten by being the slower part of the track last start. Drawn to get to the better part of the track this time. RP $4.50

7.Just For Kicks 1st $12  rated well here two back when a close 4th behind Imblaze. Has won on a very heavy track and can upset.

1.Bransome is always a chance in this grade, especially with 4kgs off.

Race 6

Confidence: 2/5

1.Tweddledee  won well here leading all the way and didn’t like the kickback last start at Te Rapa. May get a soft lead again and with 4kgs off, will be hard to run down. RP $4

4.Mia Pacci almost beat Imblaze here in a harder field.

7.Fly To The Moon  goes well here but the negative is the inside draw if the inside is off. Co trainer Pam Gerrad said, ” He just found it a bit holding last start and the looser track will suit her. I couldn’t fault her on her two runs here. I think she is a very good horse.”

6.Boundary  1st $5 is always a chance in this grade.

Race 7

Confidence: 2/5

4.Ali Baba  1st $2.30 bolted in here on similar ground and doesn’t strike a strong field here. He has always shown that he could win a few and maybe the key has been putting him over hurdles and amore ground. Co Trainer Pam Gerrard said, ” We have continued jumping him and I’m very happy with him. He comes up against a field of jumpers pretty much. On his work he should be right in this.” RP $2.50

13.Moose  with the light weight will relish a heavy loose track.

6.Suggestive Heights rates strongly on a heavy track.

7.Cool Cassie has rated strongly on heavy tracks.

Race 8

Confidence: 1/5

14.Wilbemere 1st $3.90 quaddie $1924   has been finding the line strongly over shorter distances. Negative is the step to a middle distance on a very heavy track. RP $5

2.Gingee  ready to strike now.

9.Sienna Grace fitter now and ready to win.
