Bet of the day Race 7 1.Kirkland $2.80 FF 1ST $2.10

Value bet of the day Race 6 9.Tipperary Mary $6.50 FF 1st $5.50

Multi of the day Sir Owen ( see below ) and Kirkland missed

Race 3 4.05 p.m.

Confidence: 3/5

13.Sir Owen  ran a strong third on debut ( $1.80 favourite) when he was slow away and settled last, but improved wide by the turn and finished off well for third checking off heels late. He has since trialled twice and looked much more professional when in his first trial he jumped well and led outer, travelled well, then Michael Walker just gave him a couple rubs down the neck and he took off relishing his work to street them. Then in his second trial, drew the inside and bounced first, trailed and won really well again. The Snowdens have him ready to win fresh up. Drawn ideally to get a nice run about 4th or 5th behind an even tempo, and he looks too good for these. Michael Walker, who rode him in both trials, stays on board. RP $1.70, Should open around $2.20 FF

Race 1

Confidence: 2/5

3.Kion ran a very good fourth on debut then didn’t finish as well second up. This is an easier field he has the Blinkers on him now which he definitely needs. If he can repeat that debut run, which he should be able to, especially on a better track, he looks ready to win. RP ( Rated price ), $3.40, $3.20 FF

2.Taboo 1st $5  found the line the best of anything third up over 1600m looking like he will relish more ground. The real danger to Kion.

1.Handyman is always good for a place in races like these.

Race 2

The speed map shows

Confidence: 2/5

7.My Tommy ran home in 37.04 off a decent tempo at Hastings, which was the third  fastest of the race. This is easier and the better track will suit also. Lisa Allpress will give him every chance. RP $3.70

3.Nom Du Beel drawn and weighted to be right in this. Hasn’t won for a while though.

2.Flagdown best form on heavy tracks so place chance.

6.Veracious 1st $6.30  ran home in a slightly quicker 37.01 last 600m last start at hastings behind My Tommy. Might prefer a wetter track though.

Race 3

1.Lincoln Falls 1st $2  won a jumpout at Levin August 8th then won his trial at Foxton sitting 3w open, wider turn and wasn’t touched to just get up and win with the two inside ridden out. Ready to win on debut but has to overcome a wide draw. RP $3.50, $3.60 FF

16.Willpower is ready to fire after two good trials. Has early pace to overcome the wide draw.

7.Heart Of Stone in her recent trial wasn’t fast away but soon showed good speed to get handy and led turning in. She seemed to relish her work on the heavy track and looks ready to fire on debut.

Race 4

Confidence: 2/5

4.Vinnie’s Volley 1st $2.90 tri $54 quad $286   looked good last campaign and resumed winning well over 1000m. Chris Johnson knows him better now too.

1.Bring To The Block 2nd $1.50  will be suited by the decent tempo and she trialled well recently getting back, coming very wide and relished her work to run third.

6.Devine Love  3rd $1.70 won well last campaign and looked ready to fire fresh up when running a strong 2nd in her recent trial when handy, challenged 200m out and wasn’t pushed.

1.Middagurd  won well last start and is very fit.

Race 5

Confidence: 2/5

1.Grand Mayson 2nd $1.60 tri $85  ran a game close second fresh up in a faster time than the R65 race with a gap to third. Just needs to overcome a wide draw to win. RP $3.70

6.Sainted Pearl 1st $3.80  showed enough last campaign to definitely be a winning chance in this. Raced ok against Savvy Coup.

7.La Turque 3rd $3.90   will be improved from that fresh run against better horses. 3kgs off and Blinkers on.

14.Manolo did well on debut being wide all the way and won his trial well before that.

3.Mehrtens has won two trials with Lisa up and set to win on debut.

Race 6

9.Tipperary Mary 1st $4.80 qu $6.50   last start in a harder field at Hastings, was held up on the bend and once clear found the line well for 3rd rating 98 which would win any maiden. So back in a weaker field she looks well placed up to 1400m which looks ideal. Lisa Allpress rides as well.

1.Fearless  2nd $1.50 was behind Mary in that same race but was caught 3 wide in the open and battled well for 6th. Always seems to do enough to keep you interested though.

11.Belindabella rated strongly three starts back and with a repeat of that could upset.

Race 7

Confidence: 4/5

1.Kirkland 1st $2.10 quad $278  and Parkesy avoids a long plain trip with his pet horse.  – today is the day he wins. On Saturday, he jumped well and settled nicely 4th, challenged 200m out but just blew out 100m out and was swamped by the two out wider which seemed to be the better part of the track by that time of day. That was in a stronger R65 race and he backs up here, 6 days later, in a weak maiden field. ARA doesn’t back them up very often, so he must feel he has come through that run really well. ARA’s instructions will likely be to Jonathan Parkes, ” Win or don’t come back to the birdcage!” He rates clearly on top and should get a winning run behind Shady Lady who Parkes rode for second last start and has stuck with Kirkland. As long as the inside is not right off, which is unlikely, he surely has to beat these home and save the rider a trip overseas with a horse. RP $1.70, $2.80 FF
