Update:

Head to head:

Race 2 Redcayenne $1.85 ( In from $1.92 )  to beat Hunua Hank yes

Recommended multi The head to head above with Below Zero to win at $3.30 FF now to return $61 for every $10 yes

Ruakaka

The rail is out 3m from True last meeting here last month.

Thank you to those who joined in with the Hastings Punters Syndicate. Sorry if you missed out. I had to restrict numbers though. I’ll post an update on Saturday morning and post the bets as early as possible before the race.

There are a few runners that I like today but only one at value, Below Zero in race 5. The others I rate around what they are paying so no value there.

I will post an update by 1 pm

Enjoy the ride,

Neil

Race 1

Confidence: 2/5

1.Sai Fah  showed he had a will to win on debut when looking like he was going to run second but lifted to win. There is early speed inside him so he will need to get in one off to beat these. RP $2.20, $1.85

Dangers:

2.Tappy’s One did ok on debut after getting hampered and held up. With a good beginning could beat the favourite especially if he gets caught 3 wide.

3.Boutonniere  is ready to go on debut after a good trial second.

Race 2

Confidence: 2/5

2.Redcayenne has had two runs now and ran on strongly left handed second up for 4th over 1800m in a fast run race at Taupo. He is a big strong fella suited to 2100m. He has run the fastest times over 2100m and 2200m of any of these. Yes, he has had a few goes but Tony Pike would not persevere with him unless he thought he could win at least a maiden. He will be primed to win this and this does look to be his day. He will likely settle around 6th in the 8 horse field, but Vinnie knows him very well and with a good track into it, he can beat these. RP $3.20, $3.50

Dangers:

1.Hunua Hank  would have won with a better run last start. Good track is a big query with his high action though and likely to get back.

Race 3

Confidence: 2/5

1.Quizmaster 1st $4.10  raced too keenly last start with the slower tempo. Back to 1200m suits and the blinkers going on will help. RP $4.00

Dangers:

10-3-9

Race 4

Confidence: 2/5

2.The Reflex from the Baker/Forsman stable is ready to win on debut. In his last trial he showed natural early speed to lead and soon relaxed. He pinged along strongly and relished his work out in front. When asked to go responded immediately. Looks a good type from a top stable. Drawn the ace and Jason Waddell will give him every chance. RP $2.80, $2.50 Ff

Race 5

Confidence: 3/5

12.Below Zero  1st $4.60  fresh up at Te Awamutu looked in need of the run but just went down with the 4kgs apprentice up who would have won with a senior rider up as she was untouched with the whip. Last campaign she put in a top effort to lead and kick clear, only to be run down for 4th late second up at Ellerslie in a good speed rating. This time she is definitely fitter and stronger, has Vinny Colgan up and drawn to lead or sit in the first four with a winning run as only one inside her can match her early speed.  Very good trainers ( Williams) and strikes the right field to win. RP $2.20, $3.50

Race 6

Confidence: 1/5

13.Casual Winks 1st $3  strong second in an on pace race last start here. Drawn out but looks to have the ability to get over these with an even tempo. RP $3.40

Dangers:

7.Mamba  trialled nicely for a close 4th 2nd outer most of the way and wasn’t pushed. Didn’t have the blinkers on then but they go back on today. No notification that blinkers go on butb he wore them last race start.

1.Whero Rapa  good second on debut and worked hard early second up. 3kgs off and easier maiden.

8.Philosophical strong finishing third here last start. Fitter third up.

Race 7

Confidence: 2/5

7.Toy Kingdom won really strongly here fresh up. Then he was never touched in a trial about 3 weeks ago. He will be spot on for this from the local stable and has drawn to get a winning run. RP $3.50, $3.40 FF

Dangers:

9.Rocette Lady will find this easier after a good 4th here last start. Drawn ideally.

5.O’Guy  with a better run on pace likely here, could do it.

Race 8

Confidence: 2/5

3.Marcellina 1st $3 is a very nice mare. She looked good last campaign but looked like she would be better next campaign. The way she trialled up recently being 2nd outer cruising and leading and holding on well, means she is set to win fresh up from the good draw. RP $3.00, $3.20

Dangers:

13.Chapeau  has run two strong races without getting trouble free runs. Chris Gibbs thinks she black type material so third up over 1400m looks ideal. Drawn wide and will be back and may find it hard to get over the smart Marcellina.

12.Socialights  looked good on debut hitting the line strongly against two nice horses. Fitter and drawn well.
