The Sunday selections are posted here. Big fields so maybe the suggested quaddies are the way to go with rain about.
Highlights from yesterday were the $630 quaddie at Counties and the $181 quaddie at Awapuni and few nice winners on top. The lowlight was the main Quality bet showing about as much fight as someone who had just biked to the top of Hatepe Hill! The firmer track may have been the reason but he will keep.
Apologies for no updates yesterday. Instead of riding around the big puddle at Lake Taupo this year, I was on the support team for family and friends. It was just an amazing day of courage, determination and camaraderie. If you have ever ridden up long steep hills, you can appreciate what it is like after biking for 140km then have to bike up a steep 2km climb which anyone who has ever done Taupo will know what I mean. Some walked up it, some walked and biked and many just biked up it. Amazingly, some of the Elite riders after finishing it, rode back to the hill and gave those who were struggling some encouragment, which my daughter certainly appreciated!
One crazy fella biked the whole way on a unicycle. He actually crashed off in front of us but luckily he was ok, dusted himself off and completed it. Another guy did it in speedos- he will probably struggle to sit down for a week! Anyway, a day of great memories and it was a really interesting way to see the challenge unfolding that you don’t get to see riding it.
