Good morning,
Firstly, I’m running the Tauranga Punters Club again on Saturday here. Unit holders from last week received $32 for every $10 and have been paid out or all or some of the funds have rolled over from their instructions – please check that I have your re-investment noted here. If you didn’t give me instructions you were paid out in full, so will need to re-deposit if going again this Saturday.
There is not much value here today so tread carefully. In race 6 Prodigal Son opened at $3.40FF and is likely to drift as Eleanor Rigby will be talked up but maps to get caught out in a sit sprint, so prodigal Son will be worth backing if he gets to $4 or more.
Bet of the day Race 1 2.Monarch Chimes $2.50 FF
Value bet of the day race 6 2.Prodigal Son $3.40 FF but should drift.
Race 1
Confidence:2/5
2.Monarch Chimes 3rd – if the rider could use the whip in the left hand it would have won. Has had two runs back now and fought on well alongside Master Painton last start. He goes well here and is fitter. He also rates the same as Master Painton so looks better value at $2.50 FF RP $2.30
Dangers:
3.Master Painton just beat home Monarch Chimes last start and has been up a while so not as much improvement in him as Monarch Cghimes. $1.85 FF is too short.
4.Princess El Jay 1st $14 is a quick improver. Looked in need of the run at Matamata and the improved track will help.
Race 2
Confidence: 2/5
1.Master Park 1st $1.70 ran an improver’s 2nd fresh up and it was a good form race. Drawn ideally and early money has come for it. RP $2.60, $2.10 FF
Dangers:
13.Henry Hudson looked good in his trial beginning well for 2nd outer, traveled well to the turn, led, and wasn’t pushed when run down late.
9.Flautino led all the way in her trial here in an average time. Should lead and is the one Master Park has to run down.
Race 3
Confidence: 2/5
2.Red Jackal 1st $2.60ran a very good second here on debut after looking good at the trials when third and never asked to go. Has had time to mature and drawn ideally with Opie up. RP $3, $2.50 Ff
Dangers:
7.Socialights looked ready to fire fresh when held up in the trail in her recent trial, and was full of running.
Race 4
Confidence: 2/5
8.Hetty looked good running 2nd in a good form race at Tauranga. Was doing her best work late and 1400m suits from a good draw. RP $2.70, $2.90 FF
Dangers:
7.Crescent game second two back and flat last start. Drawn to get all favours.
Race 5
Confidence: 2/5
1.Holy Loch 1st $4.60 has been racing well in harder maiden fields. Did well last start 3 wide in the open and didn’t flinch out wide. RP $3.50
Dangers:
2.Nonchalant was held up for 12 strides on debut and found the line well for 4th. Drawn to get a good run. Big horse and 1560m suits.
5.Visconti ran a battling fourth on debut. This is easier and will be fitter.
Race 6
Confidence: 2/5
2.Prodigal Son ran two good races after a spell and is nicely placed third up and fitter with 4kgs off. He has the early pace to lead or be second outer and with a moderate tempo likely, will be the one Eleanor has to run down. RP $3.40, $3.40 FF
Dangers:
3.Eleanor Rigby last start got the race set up for her when they averaged 11.94 200m sectionals up front to the 600m, faster than than five other races there on the day over shorter distances. This is a tighter track and with the moderate tempo likely, and with her lack of early speed, she will get back and with Prodigal Son getting a tempo and weight advantage over her, she is beatable.
6.La Achiever has been back in from $12 to $9 and drawn the inside which could a a winning draw.
Race 7
Confidence: 2/5
3.Man Oh Man is ready to fire on debut after an impressive trial win. Trailed and strode out strongly win going away. Drawn to get the trail. RP $3.50
Dangers:
2.Atom Ant good 2nd here in R65 race and brought down when he looked to be going well last start.
7.Choulee three strong placings and has race fitness edge.
