Race 4
The speed map shows six leaders or on pace runners, with speed coming wide from Prom Queen and Malambo. Sleeping beauty takes the first few strides to get to top speed so likely to take a sit in behind. An even tempo likely and depending on how much rain they have had, that will determine how wide they swing to win.
Confidence: 2/5
8.Te Toro Pearl fought hard for second fresh up beating Yearn, who placed in the Easter on Saturday. She is better suited to a slow or worse track as well and maps to get a good sit off a decent tempo. She rated FR110 fresh up, a 6 length improvement on her best last campaign, which nearly always indicates they can go to a greater rating, especially after only six starts. RP $3.40, $4.00FF
Dangers:
6.Malambo won at Moonee Valley and R andwick last campaign and relishes a wet track. In her recent trial drew wide but showed her usual good early speed to lead and won without being pushed looking strong doing it. Ready to fire fresh. Wide draw may be ok.
2.Sleeping Beauty looks well placed here with 2kgs off after rating an FR114 in the Railway and was just nailed by Volpe Veloce at Ellerslie last start. She can take a few strides to reach top speed early so may be content to sit behind the leaders first up. The more rain that comes the better her chances. Rates at least 3 lengths clear of these after weight adjustments but struck winning form third up and second up in her last two campaigns and has had no trials form to get ready for this. Has a rating of 96 and a win here would put her up two or three points which would make it harder in better stakes races later in the campaign so the $3.40 is too short in a fast run race where race fitness will be an advantage.
3.Prom Queen looked ready to fire fresh up after a cruisy 3rd in her recent trial. Has the tactical speed to get into a good position from that draw.
