Race 1

Confidence: 1/5 in a tricky race.

2.Amorata fought well last start. Very fit and drawn to do nothing extra. RP $4.50

Dangers:

3.Anarchy  ran 3rd to Amorata last start. Tough mare.

4.Sweet Treat  won well last start. May need a wetter track though.

Race 2

Confidence: 2/5

10.Quiz Kid looked good in both of his trials when not fully extended. Nice galloper and drawn to lead and could do it. RP $8, $26 Ff

Dangers:

1.Rainbow Dash  got all favours in front and won well last start. Up against a few first starters here and a filly with topweight is no plus, so $2.30 Ff is too short.

Race 3

Confidence: 2/5

8.Pineapple Lump  fought well for third here last start and sweated up a bit. Likely improver and can win.

Dangers:

13.Just Treasure good run last start and if they go hard, is in this.

 7.Operator good fourth last start and will be improved.

Race 4

Confidence: 2/5

2.Pinmedown 1st $2.20  fresh from the Oaks maps to get all favours. She can sprint hard and fast and looks well placed in this. RP $2.80

Dangers:

8.Socialights  looked good winning last start on a wet track. With a good run can test the favourite.

Race 5

Confidence: 2/5

16.Simply Sacred  game second fresh up in good maiden field and 1400m from the good draw looks ideal. RP $4.00

Dangers:

5.Heat Seeker  found the line like he needs 1400m now. Good ew chance at odds.

1.Jet Set  will appreciate the better track from a good draw.

14.Rip Em Up has been the bookies friend and is likely to still be after this.

Race 6

Confidence: 2/5

11.Veine D’Or  will have improved with that last run and up to 1400m suits ideally. She is a tough mare with a will to win.  RP $6, $9 FF

Dangers:

7.Hasahalo  will be fitter now and drops from a strong field.

4.Pretty To Sea  will appreciate the 1400m now.

3.Remington  with 4kgs off from a good draw should be a place chance.

Race 7

The speed map shows four runners going forward early and an even tempo likely suiting all runners. The trainer of Etah james has said, “I’ve never really used Andrew Calder before but we think he’ll be a good fit for her. We just want to make sure that it’s run at a true pace. If Nicoletta starts getting away with soft sectionals, we’ve told Andrew we want to turn it into a true staying race.” So it is going to be run at an even tempo at least suiting all runners and more than likely suit off pace runners.

3.Supera 1st $2.70 tri $115 First 4 $410  almost won last start over 1600m after the tempo suited the winner, Nicolleta. She ran home in 33.10, the second fastest all day behind the sprinter Marzemino. The step to 2000m looks ideal now being by Savabeel and she races better left handed. Her win at Trentham over 1600m in 1.33.40 was top class. She maps to get back one off behind an even tempo, and as long as the track isn’t favouring on pace runners, she has to be hard to beat. RP $2.00, $2.90 FF

Dangers:

2.Our Abbadean won this race last year and maps to get a good run. Disappointed at Te Aroha but is better suited to a middle distance and WFA suits her.

1.Nicolleta  got her way in front last start and just held on. Run down late by Our Abbaden in this last year.

9.Jessiegee did very well off a tough run last start. Drawn to get a good trip this time with Lisa Allpress up.

Race 8

The speed map shows plenty of early speed right across the field so sets up for a closer.

8.Media Sensation won the 1000 Guineas and after a break resumed with a very good run at Ellerslie when she relaxed well off the moderate pace and ran home in, 10.92,10.87, 10.40 and 10.77 closing off the best of anything. Very few horses can run those closing 200m splits. Yearn was 5th and ran a top race in the Easter next up. She will be spot on for this and with a run even 3 wide with cover, she certainly has the ability to win. RP $4.50, $7.50

Dangers:

4.Qiji Express was a bit stiff last start. He loomed to win but the leader took his line and did it again stopping him in his tracks. I was surprised he was not promoted. He was giving the winner 6kgs in that too. He ran 2nd to Sword Of Osman here in the Sartin and 3rd was Madison County who went on to good things. Drawn out but that may be an asset with early speed inside him and with Opie up, can get a run even 3 wide with cover at set weights, he has to be on this.

7.Mr Universe  has gone from strength to strength especially in his last two starts. His closing sectionals ands times just reinforce that. Drawn well and with a run 3 back inner, and with the gaps opening, should be in this.

3.Cavallo Veloce  rated very strongly when 3rd in an Open handicap at Hastings last start. Alongside was Endless Drama who won the Easter last week. Should settle midfield or worse with the hot tempo and with a clear crack at them should be in it.

Race 9

Confidence: 1/5

8.Pitch and Switch   was a bit stiff fresh up and has won second up. Drawn well. RP $5

Dangers:

3.Breezon  keeps getting better with racing. Drawn to get a good run.

14.Maison Roxanne  looks nicely placed from the good draw to be hard to beat.

12.Walkin By with a good run should be in it.

Hastings

Race 1

Confidence: 2/5

7.La Soeur  won well last start. Up in class but should get a good run. RP $4

Dangers:

1.Hank Moody  with 3kgs off will help. Beaten better fields.

Race 2

Confidence: 2/5

6.Lethal cost a little over $1million being out of Katie Lee. In his last trial he settled fifth, got out on the turen and showed a good turn of foot but ran around alot even with the blinkers on. Drawing three will help if he can be covered up then allowed to unleash late, but he is no good thing. RP $4, $3.30 FF

Dangers:

7.Cinzento looked like she would be better after a spell and she will be ready to fire. can beat Lethal with a good ride.

Race 3

Confidence: 2/5

13.Tuigirl 1st $4.10 got back off a slowish tempo fresh up when well backed. Did some good work late. 1600m suits. RP $4, $3.40

Dangers:

9.Choulee with 3kgs off and a better track should get its chance.

 Race 4

Confidence:2/5

7.Dam Reliable  drawn to get every chance and strikes the right field to win again. RP $3.40, $3.80 FF

Dangers:

4.Crafty Eva  gets 4kgs off and with a softish lead could steal it.

3.Luen Yat Miracle fitter now and right in this.

 

Race 5

The speed map shows a few runners wanting to either lead or be close to it. That should ensure an even tempo suiting all runners.

9.Inscription 1st $3.50 won easily at Tauranga and appreciated the Dead 4 track. They didn’t go hard in that so to win from 5th outer going wide showed she is a good mare. Her last 200m where she drew away, she ran the fastest last 200m all day of 11.19.  That was after a 57 day break. She won easily at Rotorua on a slow track after a 40 day break, so she goes best on the fresh side. Trainer Ross McCarroll said before her win at Tauranga that she was going the best of her team but needed some cut in the track. So to win on a Dead 4 was very good, and this track should be no better than that. She drops to 51kgs, which puts her at least 3 lengths clear of the rest. Trainer Ross McCarrol said, ” She went off her feed a bit after her last win but she is ready to go again and with that light weight, I’m confident she will go very well.” RP $2.40, $3.20Ff

Dangers:

10.Toms  with a freshen up and a light weight should be in it.

7.Pep Torque gets in on a light weight and with a good run likely, looks right in it.

Race 6

Confidence: 2/5

7.Chicane won very well fresh up and was a bit flat second up. Drawn to get a cosy run trailing or three back inner, and with the 3kgs off, has to be in it. RP $5, $6 FF

Dangers:

4.Ruby Armani  will be ready to fire fresh up. No trials and will need a good ride though.

6.Scandalo  fresh up can get home well for a place.

2.Southern Icon 1st $11 if left alone could pinch it.

Race 7

9.Polly Grey  looked good winning fresh up and is going to win more races. Drawn well. RP $6

Dangers:

1.Master Park  a nice horse drawn well.

12.Ristretto  is ready to fire fresh up.

18.Parvina  should have a good campaign this time round. If they go hard can do it.

Race 8

2.Miss Contessa  drawn to lead or get a soft trail. Gets 2kgs off so the one to beat. Rates on top here after weight adjustments and recent form taken into account. RP $4.00, $6 FF

Dangers:

5.Deerfield  with a freshener can be in it with 3kgs off.
