Sunday preview below

Good morning,

No Quality bets today. 7.1 units on them yesterday for a 11.76 return and a 4.66 unit profit.

Our Track reporter ( Bunker) has told us, ‘A nice crisp morning. The tuis are singing up a storm. Small amount of cloud cover. No rain overnight. We are gonna have a  good day for spring racing.’

The rail is out 4m on the bends and 6m in the straight so they will get to the outside in the flat races. Therefore wide draws will be vital for any confidence in betting on the flat races.

Bet of the day Race 2 1.Zentangle $2.30 FF 1st $2.20

Value bet of the Day Race 8 3.Brassy Boy $7 FF

Multi of the day is Zentagle with the GOAT’s best sports bet all weekend, Rugby, Tasman -2.5 at $1.87 to return $43 for every $10 yes

Race 1

Confidence: 1/5

6.Grinner makes his debut at the right time. He should handle the ground and John Wheeler will have him well schooled to win on debut. RP $4

Dangers:

9.Ave Maria  won her hurdle debut here and is very fit.

Race 2

Confidence: 3/5

1.Zentangle gets 3kgs off and is in great form  in stronger fields.  Jumps well, has won four hurdle races and is against a weaker field, plus he is very tough. He definitely  has the edge over the second favourite King Oberon. RP $2.00, $2.30 Ff

Race 3

Confidence: 2/5

1.Mesmerize  is tough and jumps well. Ran 2nd to Kipkeino in this race last year. $RP $2.70

6.Little Macs fitter after two runs back and gets 3kgs off.

Race 4

Confidence: 2/5

2.Crash Bandicoot  is a very good jumper who eats mud for breakfast. was scratched out of the Grand National when early money came for him. he will be ready. RP $3.00, $3.30 FF

Dangers:

5.Old countess  won this race last year and will have been aimed at this.

Race 5

Confidence: 2/5

3.Modric  has won both of his trials impressively. he has a high knee action ideal for a slog, drawn out and you can see why the bookies have opened him at $1.80 FF. Craig Grylls rode him in his last trial and probably would have said “Wherever he goes I’m going as well.” $1.80 Ff is a bit short on this track, but he does look very hard to beat despite being a handy field. I rate him a $2.00 chance.

Race 6

A field job for the quaddie. In order: 1-3-4-7

Race 7

Confidence: 2/5

6.Smooth Cognac just missed here two starts back in similar ground. Lisa Allpress then ran a strong second with her next up. The side winkers go on this time after a flat run last start. Drawn midfield but there is not a lot of pace in this so Lisa can get out and get wide early and get to that fast lane. RP $4, $4.50 FF

Dangers:

1.Lincoln Dreamer unwound really well fresh up for third. Drawn wide enough to get out there.

7.She’s Got The Look ran a good second here two back. Drawn wide.

Race 8

Confidence: 2/5

3.Brassy Boy  ran a very good second here on a similar surface. The speed rating was good also. He was keen last start after the 41 day break and got shuffled back at the wrong time and just battled home. Fraser Auret trained and he will be ready to repeat that last effort here. Drawn wide which is a plus. RP $5, $7.50 Ff

Dangers:

2.Vaxation  won well last start in a good speed rating. This is harder and may get caught in the slower ground.

Race 9

Confidence: 1/5

2.Derecho closed off well here three starts back on a very heavy track. Looks like he needs a middle distance now and drawn wide to get to the best part. RP $4.80, $6 FF

Dangers:

7.Interllectus  really hit the line well late at Riccarton. Lisa Allpress replaces the 4kg apprentice and Dummy Myers trained.

1.Country Bumpkin does enough to keep you interested.
