The Avondale preview is posted here with one Quality bet.
You often here racing presenters and commentators saying that was a great ride but often the rider had no option to stick to the rails or race where he did and win. Yesterday, the ride by Craig Williams in the Melbourne cup was a genuine 10/10 ride! He drew wide, and knew the inside was ok, as he had walked the track during the day. I felt he won the race with two things. The way he jumped the horse out cleanly and his determination to find that rail when caught wide after 200 metres. Once he led, he was more than happy to trail and from there, he just gave Vow And Declare every chance to show his fighting powers to win when looking like he was going to place. After the race, I was glad to here him say he was convinced he was a top chance in the cup after the way he fought back for second in the Caulfield Cup, as that is what convinced me he just needed a decent ride to win the cup. Great to see many of you backed him. It is one of the hardest races to analyse so it was very satisfying to get it right. The two Quality bets missed after Ranger raced too keenly and Reflection forgot to jump on terms with them and ran on well for fifth. I’m quite keen on today’s Quality bet to make up for it though!
