No Quality bets so far with little value. There may be in the update at 1 p.m.

It has come up a Dead 5 and is likely to get to a Dead 4 or maybe Good 3 by this afternoon. Rail true.

Bet of the day Race 2 3.Rum $2.60 FF

Value bet of the day Race 5 6.Cutting Up Rough $5.50 Ff

Speed map special Race 3 1.Maninthesky $3.30

Multi of the day Race 2 3.Rum and Race 3 1.Maninthesky to return $85.80 for every $10

Race 1

Confidence: 2/5

2.Hot Spring Project ran a close third to a couple of nice horses on debut. Drawn to get a good run and should be improved enough to win this from the Pike stable. RP $2.80, $3.30 FF

Dangers:

6.Melody Roxx  improved nicely off her third on debut to lead and get run down second up. Fitter now and may be better ridden off the pace.

Race 2

Confidence: 3/5

3.Rum looked good winning here on debut. He is still learning and if he can get the front again, which he should be able to, the extra 100m looks like it will suit him. Nice looking galloper with the breeding to back it up. RP $2.20, $2.60 FF

Danger:

1.Callsign Mav back on his home track where he has raced very well, plus the blinkers going on, makes him a realistic chance again.

Race 3

Confidence: 3/5

1.Maninthesky won well on debut and second up he led then once he saw the other horse out wide, quickened stride and came back for a very good second to Aridity who won again next up and the third horse won two in a row last week, Capellani. He is a nice athletic type and still learning. Peter Lock must have been tempted to put the blinkers on him, but he seems like he may be better chasing others down so may take a sit here and get over them. RP $2.60, $3.20 Ff

Dangers:

5.Tuppence won her maiden well and last start in a stronger fillies race, didn’t race well with the side winkers on, so they come off. Gets in with a 3kgs advantage over the Maninthesky.

Race 4

The speed shows plenty of speed in this and it should be run strongly and probably suit a runner off the pace or with a cosy trip in behind.

Confidence:2/5

4.Motivation has been freshened up and will be suited by the good tempo. Maps to get back and charge home. RP $4.00, $4.60 FF

Dangers:

10.Kapinos found 1400m too far last start. 1300m suits better and from the good draw should get a good run.

5.Maria Dior  won well last start and a solidly run 1300m suits her.

2.Merlini steps up to 1300m on a good tempo which is a query for him with 60kgs.

Race 5

The speed map shows good early speed and at last an even tempo.

Confidence: 2/5

6.Cutting Up Rough ran a top second at Trentham in a harder field. he gets in on a winning weight with the 2kg off. Negative is the 46 day break but he should get the right run. RP $$4.80, $6 FF

Dangers:

4.Yearn has been racing very well in stronger fields and if she can snag and get a track into it, she should be a realistic chance.

10.Swisswatch  drops to a light weight and if left alone in front, which is unlikely, could hold on.

8.Shadow Fox  drawn to get a good run just behind the leaders and be right in it.

Race 6

The speed map shows Johnny  Russ setting an even tempo.

Confidence: 1/5 in an open race with Robusto being too short at $2.20 FF

3.Trending ran a game seond in  harder field on Saturday. Drawn to get all favours and looks the best value in the race. RP $6, $9 Ff

Dangers:

2.Hank Moody  has been rating strongly without winning. Drawn to get a good run and be a chance but hasn’t won for a while.  RP $5, $6.50 FF

5.Robusto in good form but has rates around fifth after weight adjustments against these so $2.20 is too short.

4.Zac Brown  is likely to get a winning run and be a chance from there.

Race 7

The speed map shows Unlaced and Showbeel likely to share the pace and Jennifer Eccles may snag depending on how she jumps.

Confidence: 3/5

1.Jennifer Eccles  got all favours and won easily at Te Rapa in slow time but had race rivals, Showbeel and Loire well covered. Drawn wide and it will be interesting to see how she is ridden. With the Oaks in mind they won’t want a hard run so may snag and look to get over them. Either way, just a bad run should beat her. RP $1.60, $1.65

Dangers:

3.Showbeel  chased home Jennifer strongly at Te Rapa and will likely land in the lead or second outer and looks the main danger.

2.Loire  is a very strong filly and if she can land closer, she should be right in it, but hard to see her turning the tables on Jennifer.

5.Heart Of The Ocean  will be improved by that strong third last start and 2100m will suit better.

Race 8

Confidence: 2/5

5.Exaltation was very impressive beating home Savvy Lad at Riccarton debut. She is a half sister to Melody Belle and in her recent trial got bac last on the inner and when out unwound very nicely to find the line well. She is ready to go again fresh up with Opie on. RP $2.70, $3.00 FF

Dangers:

4.Cinzento  is a capable filly and with a freshener, could dash over these late.

8.Glorious Ocean strong third last start and drawn to get all favours.
