Bet of the day Race 6 4.Macambo $4

Value bet of the day Race 1 4.Zoumist $6

Race 1

Confidence: 2/5

4.Zoumist  5th after being held up  is ready to win on debut. In her first trial led easily and wasn’t pushed to run 2nd beating Kiku who has placed twice since and is a very nice 2yo. In her second trial she bounced well, landed 1×1 and once given a couple, really responded and showed a very nice professional stride to win well running 10.96 for her last 200m compared to September Run’s last 200 of 11.66 off a slightly faster tempo and similar heat time. Drawn to land 2nd outer or 1×1, and looks the real danger to the favourite. RP $3.00, $6

Dangers:

1.September Run 1st $3 last start was caught 3w on a good pace behind Away Game who won and went on to top form. Trialed really well recently in behind the pace relaxing well and led, but wasn’t pushed when swamped for a close third. Ready win from the Waller stable.

2.Onedayclosertoyou just beat September Run in his trial but was worked on more in the straight and has drawn wider this time. Nicely bred and cost $350k

Race 2

Confidence: 2/5

1.Volterra chased home Hinchbeast on debut in good time. After a break he trialed up nicely then in his second trial was caught 5th 3w opn and kept closing for a strong second running his last 200m in 11.32, which in the context of the day was above average.

Dangers:

11.Yulong Hero got back in his trial and once clear showed good dash to run a good 4th.

2.Already Blessed 1st $5.40  ran a game second to subsequent smart winner Macroura two starts back then took a few strides to gather speed last start before hunting through to trail, then led, but battled late.

4.Fastconi  had a typical Waller quiet educational trial. Looks good and in with a chance.

Race 3

2.Aqueous led and was run down late on debut  in a good speed rating. Has improved since then and could get a soft lead and be hard to run down.

5.Irish Angel ran ok races last year but was turned out to grow and mature she certainly has looking at her last trial where she settled off the pace but unleashed with good speed and power running her last 200m in 10.71 which was excellent in the context of the tempo of other heats. Should land in the trail or 3 back inner and get her chance.

1.Papal Warrior 1st $4.90   has shown enough in his four starts and came through nicely late for his recent trial. Wide draw and topweight won’t help though.

Race 4

The speed map shows a moderate tempo suiting runners in the first half of the race.

Confidence:2/5

2.Come Along 1st $3.20  qyaddie $303 last start got well back and charged late. Has shown enough early speed to land 3 back inner and gets his chance. Meets The Cartoonist 1.5kgs better off which is more than enough to turn the tables on him.

1.The Cartoonist held on well to beat Come Along last start and should be fitter for that as well.

7.Regimental Band was beaten by a smart horse last start. Very fit now.

6.Earth Song won strongly fresh up and fought well for second second up. Drawn wide and goes forward so should be able to slide over and get 2nd outer and be a chance from there. Better track will suit as well.

3.Chocolatier  won a recent trial leading all the way. Almost won here on debut In Oz when leading, kicking well, and was done late in a good speed rating over this distance. Blinkers on will help.

8.Steamin won the Dubbo Cup last year in a sizzling 1.33.87 for the 1600m. He has run good timjes beofre as well. Nice run fresh up for 4th and drawn to get a good run.

Race 5

1-2- and 4 look the best chances here.

Confidence: 2/5

1.Starspangled Rodeo 1st $7.20 put in a big run on debut at Mornington over 1200m when slow away, got back and wide but closed off in the fastest sectionals of the race 34.45/11.90. Two trials back have seen him win well and he is ready to fire. Nice looking ex Kiwi who will be better over more ground but is primed to win fresh up from his new stable of Bjorn Bakers.  Drawn 2 and he has shown enough early speed in his racing and recent trials to land in the first 6 and be a realistic chance. RP $4.50 $6

4.Reformist  looked good winning fresh up in good time and SR. Drawn to land 3 back inner behind an even tempo and the way he can unleash a sharp powerful sprint, means he could do it again.

2.Beach Baby did very well last start sitting 2 3w in the open and holding on for second. The SR was average but the effort was above average. Drawn to get a good run and be hard to beat.

10.Revenere has put in two powerful finishes since a short break. Likely to get back- if they go hard, could upset with a lighter weight.

8.Le Lude every chance last start when winning fresh up. This is harder.

5.Rica Capri ridden up for 3rd in recent trial.Drawn wide.

11.Jazette was able to begin well last start and lead and hold onn to beat Beach Baby. Still improving but up in weight and will likely need to work harder to lead or get 2nd outer.

Race 6

Speed map shows Stellar Impact, Navy Cross leading and maybe Flinders looking to get handy from a wide draw early. Moderate to even tempo depending on what wide runners do midrace.

Confidence: 2/5

4.Mocambo  last campaign came from last over 1400m to run down nice horses who went on to good form ( Bandersnatch) Backed heavily to win heavily late second up last start and kept closing on an unsuitable heavy track. He is a big 3yo ideally suited to 1900m third up and has drawn to get a cosy trip and has the hot Hugh Bowman in the saddle. RP $4, $5.50

10.Navy Cross 1st $6.20  has had two runs back and last start over 1600m ran on strongly from a handy position with a good staying action. Ready to win now and steps to 1900m at the right time. Gai’s Comments here

7.Stellar Impact debuted after racing in Japan at Newcastle and burnt hard to lead, eased off a little once there, but still found a kick to win well. Had 8 months off and trailed up well behind House Of Cartier recently who won a Cup race last week next up. Gai’s comments are here

8.Flinders  last start drew out and worked midrace and did well to hold second place. James sticks with him but wide draw makes it tough. Give him an inside draw and he’s be favourite to win this.

5.Reward Seeker  has won his last two in weaker fields. Likely to settle midfield or worse and find a couple here too good.

Race 7

Rafha’s Choice can cross and lead with Kosciusko tracking him over with Mansa Musa taking a sit in the trail being fresh up with topweight and no trials. Even tempo from there.

Confidence: 2/5

5.Kosciusko drew wide last start and began well and was caught wide and was stuck 3w till 600m out then tucked in 1×1. He led 200m out but just blew out and shortened stride but still ran a game fourth so he looks a definite improver and just needs to get in one off early on which he can do. he drops his head and relaxes well so with his race fitness advantage over the other two, can win.

1.Mansa Musa 1st $2.40 quaddie $456   led all the way fresh up off two trial wins last campaign carrying 60kgs giving weight to the next four runners home. No trials this time. Drawn to lead. Watch the market for a lead.

6.Not Feint Hearted  won strongly on debut on a heavy track then ran a fair 7th behind Bivouac with the toughest run in the race. Can run time and led and wasn’t punched out in his most recent of two trials. Drawn to land on the pace and has a nice action, so looks the main danger.
