Update 1.43 p.m. Even with a $10k jackpot into the late quaddie at Riccarton, it is just too tricky and not worth the outlay/likely return. Back again for one of the Ozzie quaddies by 4.15 p.m.

Update 10.30 No further bets. I may have a bet for the syndicate on the Riccarton late quaddie – if I do will post that by 2.20 p.m.

Value bet of the day Doomben race 2 2.Wapiti Currently $3.40 Ff but is closer to $4 overseas so will likely drift out to around there. 2.8 units Quality bet 2nd after getting a very good run in the trail.

Riccarton best bets:

Race 1 10.Just A Promiss  $6 and $2.25 FF 3rd $2.50

Race 10 2.Nomen Ludi $4.50 FF 3rd $1.80

The Quaddie syndicate has $6599 to bet with. This was going to be the last weekend of betting for it, but I’ll keep it going till we double the bank to $21,520 or lose it. But after this weekend, if you want to pull out, you can on a pro rata basis. I’ll post about that early next week.  Today’s quaddie will be posted by 4 p.m. or may even take one at Riccarton as that does look very open too. If so, will post that by 2.20 p.m.

It is going to be a tough day at Riccarton with a heavy track and all runners being fresh. I’ll update the selections  by 8.45 a.m. Saturday

The GOAT, who is on fire, has These two Sunday bets as his best. Manly -3.5 $1.90 and Crusaders -11.5

Nigel, who won the Heads Up $20 multi this week, has those two bets to return $72.90

Race 2

Confidence: 3/5 Quality bet 2.7 units at $4 FF

2.Kaplumpich ran two very strong seconds then had a tough run last start and did very well to run fourth. His ratings say he just needs to get a decent run to win this and he maps to land about 6th outer. With the 2kgs off, he does look very hard to beat. RP $3.00, $4 FF

Race 2

Confidence: 3/5 Quality bets 2.8 units at $3.40 FF He is paying more overseas so should get out.

2.Wapiti won strongly over 1800m in a good speed rating beating race rival Cellarmaid with the same weight difference, but Cellarmaid is likely to do more work this time. Then last start back to 1600m he draw wide and worked up 2nd outer and battled well for 4th. He races like 2030m will suit ideally now and from the inside can lead or trail and he looks very hard to beat from there back against his own age. RP $2.40, $3.40 FF

Race 1

Confidence: 3/5

1.Frosty Rocks  bolted in last start in the best SR ( Speed Rating ) for races 1600m and less on the soft to heavy track. Right at the peak of his form and should get a good run on the pace or even leading and be hard to beat. RP $2.30, $2.50 FF

The track is expected to play closer to a Slow 9 early on then once it opens up be tougher going. Rail out 8m!

Interesting that the rail is out so far restricting the field sizes when so may horses are looking for  a start. If it were true, an extra 10 horses at least could have started.

Race 1

Confidence: 2/5

10.Just A Promiss put in a top run for third here on a good track when 7th 3w open, and ran third, alongside race rival Matuki. She has an action that should be able to handle it on fresh ground and from the inside draw, looks a good eachway chance. RP $4.70, $6 Ff

6.Matuki ran a top 2nd here after working hard early.Getting first use of the track and Lisa Allpress can start off on winning note. Track should be ok. RP $$3.50, $3.80 FF

9.Highly Polished drawn to be the main danger with Kozzi up.

11.Miss Oaks could get over them id they go too hard.

Race 2

Confidence: 2/5

10.Showgem looked good winning her trial but ran out on the turn but won with plenty in hand looking good. Lisa Allpress from a good draw and a Pitman trained debut runner adds up to a winner. RP $3. $2.90 FF

14.Showmana  nice trial run and drawn well.

9.Decisive  looked good winning its trial and top stable.

3.In Heaven  drawn the rail and can place from there.

Race 3

Confidence: 1/5

1.Paint Me Red looked good winning its trial all the way and drawn to get every chance with Lisa Allpress up. RP $3.00

14.Impecunious motored  home here for third on debut. Wide draw no help but could swamp them late.

4.Goose Bay  looked good in the trial win and is in this.

13.Watchmaker drawn to be a chance with Kozzi up.

Race 4

Confidence: 1/5

1.Darci Mac looked ready to win fresh up after winning his trial with plenty in hand. Drawn to get an ideal run in behind a decent tempo. RP $6, $9 FF

8.Miss Ricky Bobby  ran a game second on a slow track at Ashburton and ran a strong close 2nd at the trials. Bolted in on debut and early money has come for it.

4.Black Label is ideally suited to 1000m and will likely lead and if inside is ok, which it should be, she will prove hard to catch.

5.Miss Brahmos drawn wide and needs luck but good enough.

9.Fortune Patch  could upset fresh.

Race 5

3.Lancaster Park is a big galloper who looked good leading all the way in his recent trial win. With a good beginning, will be right in this. RP $5, $8 FF

7.Highland Lady looked ready to win after leading all the way in her trial an a wet track action suits.

4.The Cats Pyjamas  looked good winning his trial an drawn well with 2kgs off.

9.Sombra Deamor is a nice horse who won’t want it too heavy.

Race 6

Confidence: 2/5

12.Papagena looked good winning here last year and is ready repeat that based on his recent trial win. Drawn ideally and gets 3kgs off. RP $5, $8.50 Ff

10.Sanctify was an unlucky 4th in the Southlnd Guineas and has won on a heavy track. has had early money $6.50 into $5

3.Elle Makfi  is a nice horse and gets 2kgs off.

13.Pure Class  if inside is off and it gets to be a slog home, can win.

Race 7

Confidence: 2/5

6.Emily Margaret was full of running in her trial and didn’t see clear air. She looks right on top of her game now being over her feet problems. Nicely drawn to get to the right part of the track. RP$3.80, $4.20 FF

13.Scarfi  drawn to get a good run and if track is not too bad, Lisa will be a decent chance on him.

5.Nowhere Man  has residual fitness on his side.

8.Upperhand has early money $13 to $8.50 and has won fresh on a heavy track.

Race 8

Confidence: 2/5

12.Newmarket from the top Rae stable with Lisa Allpress up and blinkers going on. RP $5, $5.50 Ff

2.Effervescent  has won fresh up over 1400m and with the right run, could do it again.

4.Blair Flight  is a big horse and won his trial very well. Ready to go fresh.

5.Appellido  nice horse from north debuting. Kozzi a plus.

Race 9

13.City Slicker gets in on a nice weight and just the type to charge late and win. RP $6, $8

4.Our Teddy Boy  won really well last start. If inside is off, can win.

2.Frankie The Fox  will be coming at these late and gets in on a nice weight.

8.Hunua Hank  debuts in the South and if inside is ok, could do it.

3.Lord Beaver  early money $26 to $18 and will relish a heavy track more then most.

Race 10

Confidence: 2/5

2.Nomen Ludi rates very well here on a heavy track. He ran a good 5th in the Winter Cup behind good Winter gallopers then ran a game 3rd 7 days later in the Winter Classic. Then he won in September over 1600m on heavy track with 56kgs, 1kg over the minimum. He’s only 2kgs over here and he has the two best FRs on a heavy track. Two good seconds before lockdown will give him residual fitness and he hasn’t come all this way for the sunshine. Maps to be about 6th outer and get every chance.

7.Orepuki Lad  will be on pace and goes well fresh.

3.Riviera Rock  drawn to get every chance and tries hard.

14.Transcendent  with Lisa up will get every chance.

1.Who Dares Wins  won his trial well. If the track isn’t too bad, should be in it but likely to be set for bigger stakes races.

Race 11

Confidence: 1/5 in a tough race

7.Jildi Jildi  goes ok fresh and Lisa Allpress will give it every chance. RP $7

3.Nathan Detroit will relish a heavy track and strong placing before lockdown.

2.My Cashier  if the inside is off can be in it.

11.Redesdale  will be in it the heavier the track is.
