I haven’t seen a rail that hot on a heavy track as it was at Avondale yesterday, for a long time. Te Rapa occasionally gets a hot rail on Dead or better surfaces, but on a heavy track, not as much as that. Timaru on Sunday was close to it but that was on a slow 9.Te Awamutu, at times, used to get hot but go off later in the day.
On Friday and Saturday we are very likely to see the opposite. Whanganui always favours runners getting to the outside fast lane and Pukekohe, ( update noon Thursday Counties now Racing at Avondale) after the last meeting there, will more than likely be the same. So punters are going to be looking for horses that will get the chance to get out there and that is what I’ll be focusing my time on. The early preview of Whanaganui will be posted by 6 p.m.and maybe an early one or two for Saturday, especially if the bookies get it wrong.
