Sunday preview below

Not a bad day- with four top selections on top, plus the $641 quaddie. Both best bets had their chances and ran close seconds. Back again Wednesday for Matamata. David will have his selections for the Greyhounds up by noon tommorrow.

Some interesting and even races today at Wingatui. I’ve been through the Manukau form but there is just no value there so pass.

Race 2

Confidence: 2/5

1.I Am A Tiger 1st $5  very unlucky last start over 1355. Back to 1200m in but an even tempo with an uphill last 150 metres means he can get over these late with Kozzi up. RP $3.60, $4.20 FF

4.The last Word was held up at the wrong time last start and ran a strong third. Beaten by a wide draw the start beofre. Johnson will be keen to get it right this time.

Race 4

5.City Slicker 2nd   is a good mare nicely weighted to win again and from the inside draw, should get all favours. RP $3.40, $3.70 Ff

Race 5

In order:

9 Raise Your Sights Fitter. Good run two back finishing on well. Then did too much work wide last start and stuck on well. Back to 1600m and can win.
1 Western Dream peaking 3rd up. Strong second here last start. 2kgs off.
3 Shaker 1st $9 3rd best L600 last start.1600m suits. Good rider- 1kg off. Fin best of beaten runners last start so 1600m suits. Drops head nicely
12 Float Ran home strongly over 1335 last start in 4th fastest L600m. 1600m suits and fitter third up.
6 Last Try best work very late and ran into a pocket. Fitter now and 1600m suits. Blinkers go on.
2 Burt The Squirt 4kgs off. Side winkers on. Fitter- stuck well in slower ground last start. Top trainer
14 Wondering Plenty of money for her last start and did ok after working to get on pace and finding 2000ms too far. Back to 1600m helps.

Race 6

Confidence: 1/5

5.Quintuple Twins looked full of running in her recent trial. Won five in a row last campaign. All form on better tracks but her action and breeding ( By Sebring) suggests she will handle a Slow track. Likely to snag with good tempo from a wide draw and come with the last run.

1.Irish Excuse unlucky when held up last start and would have won with a clear run.

6.Equinox 1st $3.70  smart horse who trialed well- negative is slow to heavy track as he prefers a Dead or better with his action so no anchor.

2.Johnny Jones strong 2nd to Wekaforce in recent trial. Looks ready to fire fresh up. Drawn to get a good run.

7.Fortune Patch good second last start beating three race rivals. Needs a perfect ride to win.

Race 7

Confidence: 1/5 in an open race

6.Dr Velocious 1st $4.70  two strong wins and has won on a heavy track. Right at his peak now with 2kgs off. RP $5

8.Hunua Hank  could snag here with the good tempo likely and come with the last run at them. Handles a wet track well.

12.Odysseus  did well to win last start. Drawn to lead or trail and very fit now.

2.Orepuki Lad  drops back in class from the Winter Cup. Good weight but with right run on pace, could do it.

3.Riviera Rock always capable of winning a race like this.

Race 8

Confidence: 2/5

6.Keep Quiet 1st $4 qu $10  won well off the front two back then drew wide at Riccarton and snagged back but did well to run fifth in the 3rd fastest L600m and fastest L200m. Drawn the inside here and should get a winning run with Kozzi up and be the one to beat. RP $4, $4.80 FF

13.Anjameme 2nd $2   two strong seconds. Peaking now third up with 1kgs off and rider change could make the difference.
