A good day of racing on both sides of the ditch. Marine does look very well placed to trail and win and is the only quality because because of the value we can get compared to the rated price. Tokorangi  will relish 1400m and should get a fair crack at them this time. Communique  just looks the best horse in that race and is right at her peak.

Next update by noon.

The only Quality bet so far is Marine in race 7 at Riccarton 5 units at $3.30 FF Just a novices ride on Marine. If he had stuck to the rail he would have had a perfect run up the inside of Unition who was always going to run out and he would have not jostled with Inition and would certainly have won. Some riders need to do their home work better!!!

Bet of the Day Riccarton race 9 8.Communique $2

Multi of the day Communique and Marine $60 for $10

Value Bet of the day Te Rapa Race 5 9.Tokorangi $4.60

Speed map Special Te Rapa Race 7 2.Need I Say More $3.80 FF 1st $3.50

Sneaky of the day Cox Plate Race 9 6.Aspetar $13 FF

The GOAT  has sent through these two sports bets as the best of the weekend

Hawke’s Bay v Manawatu 4.35pm Saturday. A beautiful day weather wise in the Bay and the Shield is up for grabs. Hawke’s Bay are playing like a very cohesive unit and will put a cricket score on Manawatu who leak points pretty easily. No hesitation in recommending -21.5 as the bet of the weekend! $1.87  Yes
Sunday night 9.30pm NRL Grand Final.
Panthers v Storm. The razzle dazzle v the clinical. Can’t see the Storm being beaten in this one. They have all the big match experience; both on the field and in the coaches box. They will grind the Penrith side into the dirt. Melbourne H2H @$1.67

Te Rapa

Race 4

Confidence: 3/5

4.Lincoln King  is a good stayer and got the race run to suit when they went hard enough up front. His closing sectionals were excellent in the context of the tempo and the day. That was only second up and with a similar tempo likely here, with Danielle Johnson staying with the ship, plus being fitter, has to be hard to beat against an average Open handicap. RP $2.90, $3.60 FF

Race 5

Confidence: 3/5

9.Tokorangi looked good bolting in last campaign leading all the way. Then fresh up, she jumped evenly but gradually got shuffled back to the rear. Once clear on the fence, she really unwound strongly for fourth and was buffeted around a bit late. She ran the best closing 800, 600, 400 and 200, So the 1400m from the good draw, where she can land handier, makes her a strong chance in this. RP $3.80, $4.60 FF

Race 6

First leg of the quaddie

4.Festivity, 5.Pinultimate and 7. Ripped  should have this race covered.

Race 7

Confidence: 3/5

2.Need I Say More 1st $3.50  bolted in here fresh up over 1200m beginning well and dictating and kicking away still in a good speed rating. Than at Hastings he just missed the jump slightly and he had to work harder in running and did well to hold down fourth. Maps to lead or take the trail with not a strong tempo and 1400m third up is ideal for him with J. Parkes up. RP 3.60, $4 FF

4.Rocket Spade  with those two runs under his belt, will make him the main danger with a good run likely and a reasonable tempo.

12.Tinker McPhee  looked impressive winning at Matamata and the sectionals back that up. Awkward draw here and likely to be ridden quietly with the 1000 Guineas the target and with a fit tough Need I Say More up front, it would take a top effort to run him down.

Race 8

Two very good horses here who should fight this one out. 3.Osaka and 7. James Barrie. James should get a nice trail or even lead so give him the edge with race fitness and third up. If those two have a bad day then 15.Lavaglo  could do them.

Race 9

In order one of these should take this out. 1-10-9-2-8-12

Race 1

Confidence: 3/5

11.Miss Tycoon Rose 1st $1.90   rated FR101 last start against race winners so back to a maiden she does look the one to beat. RP $2.60, $2.80

Race 2

Confidence: 2/5

3.Final Savings  goes best when tucked away and can drive hard late. So from the draw, she can do just that. RP $4, $5.50 FF

Race 7

Confidence: 3/5

2.Marine  looked very good winning on debut then second up here jumped ok and settled 6th outer but got a bit keen after they buttoned off. Then he clipped heels just after turning in, recovered well, and kept up a sustained sprint right through the line for a close second in very good sectionals in the context of the day.. There looks to be a better tempo here and from the inside draw, he should be able secure the trail and with Unition likely to lead, he does veer out left handed, so that should allow Marine, who ran in last start, to come through against the rail which will be ideal for him. RP $2, $3.30 FF Quality bet 5 units at $3.30 FF

Race 8 2nd leg of the quaddie

2-5-6  should have this leg covered.

5.Karalino is a progressive mare nicely placed at the weights.

6.Tobilicious  rates on top after weight adjustments in the ratings and is a good horse.

2.Carson River  with the right run could get over them late.

9.Beneficial added ( 11.23 a.m. )  closed off in fast sectionals fresh up and drawn to get the right run.

Race 9

Confidence: 3/5

8.Commuique was travelling like the winner soon after they jumped here last start! Bolted in and has the breeding to win more races. Just bad luck should beat her. RP $1.70, $2.00 FF

Race 10

This is a field job. If I had to narrow it down, 6-2-1-7-16-11 would be the ones.

Race 9

Confidence: 3/5

11.Icebath  1st $2.70 last start ran a career best rating in a strong field behind two good horses over 1400m. She took a while to clear running too. The 1600m looks ideal now and she should be able to land midfield behind a decent tempo and with 3kgs off, she looks very well placed to win again. RP $3.00, $3.50 FF

The Valley

Race 9 Cox Plate

6.Aspetar has been set for this race and comes off winning form. He won a Group 1 and in his last win drove home strongly with an action ideal for a wet choppy track, which it is likely to be by this time of race. Should land in the first four from the draw and be a decent eachway chance. RP $8, $14 FF
