Te Rapa

The rail is back to true from (m here on November 25th when it was chopped up a bit.

Race 1

Confidence: 2/5

7.Make Time  last start at Pukekohe began well but got squeezed up after about 100 metres and ended up behind midfield. Once out he closed off hard in the best L400 and 200 of the race ( 22.42 and 11.30 ) There looks to be good speed in this and he maps to land about 6th or 7th and come with the last run at them. He has a nice action too. RP $4.80, $6 FF

Race 2

I’m not sold on any of the first three favourites here. 7.Foxrambla  looked good winning her trial with a nice action and is probably the best value in the race.

Race 3

Confidence: 2/5

2.Mega Bourbon  has looked good winning his two races. The last in better time than the Open Handicap. With an even tempo likely with a few on pace runners here, he should get his chance to get over these again. RP $3.20, $3.60 FF

Race 4

Confidence: 2/5

1.Mr Universe  closed off strongly last week against a stronger field in the second fastest last 200 metres. Good drop in class here. Drawn to get a good run and get his chance. The negative is the 63kgs, but with a perfect ride, is a nice eachway chance. RP $5, $8 FF

Race 5

Confidence: 2/5

8.Coventina Bay  1st $8 has been closing off her races in top class sectionals. Has been freshened up and she goes well that way. The likely even tempo will suit her as will the 1400 metres. RP $4.80, $6.50 FF

Dangers: 1.Julius  looks nicely placed to get the right run and be right in it.

Race 6

Confidence: 2/5

1.Son Of Bielski  ran on very strongly last start over 1200 metres. The step to 1400m is ideal. Top 2nd here fresh up over 1400m. Will get back and be charging late so the harder they go, the better his chances. RP $3.50, $4.20 Ff

Dangers:

11.Mai Tai 1st $3  is a nice mare who was beaten by a moderate tempo last start. Drawn to land handier and be the main danger.

13.Tabata  is a nice mare and should get the right trip.

Race 7

Confidence: 3/5

2.Savy Yong Blonk  2nd tri $664   would have won at Pukekohe last start if she had not been held up at a vital stage. her closing 200 metres was excellent and far superior to anything else in the race and compared well to the sprinters on the same day. She has to be improved off that and drops 1kg in the weights. Jamie Richards will have her spot on for this and 2400m looks idea. Just needs a half decent run to beat these. RP $2.30, $2.50 FF

Dangers:

6.Justamaiz  won this last year and did very well last start after a slow start. His chances depend on how he jumps from that inside draw as he may end up on the fence amongst others and have to work again to get out and around them when he can. Tough though and if he can lead early, will be the one Savvy has to run down.

5.Sherrif 3rd $2  may relish the 2400m. Drawn to get a good run and very fit.

4.Ocean Billy  1st $22 with a good run likely, can get into this.

Race 8

Confidence: 2/5

1.Supera 2nd $1.40   is the class mare of the field. She ran home well late last start in a sprint home. She is in foal which will help her mood. With a better tempo here can win. RP $2.60, $2.60

Dangers:

5.Sinarahma looked very well at Tauranga and if she can jump better, Opie will give her every chance.

3.Supreme Heights 3rd $2.50   will be on pace and with a decent time up front, can hold on for a place.

4.Showaroses 1st $24 tri $474   top 2nd at Pukekohe last start and fitter now.

Race 9

Confidence: 2/5

2.Royal Charm  ran a top second fresh up. After getting a good run fourth outer, he really found the line strongly late running the fastest last 200m. Being a big 4yo he will definitely improve off that. Then last start was held up and came home late. Drawn out so needs a good ride. RP $5, $6.50 FF

Dangers:

11.Ever So Clever  is a nice mare third up and fitter. May be looking for more ground but if they go hard, could swamp these with Danielle up.

7.Heart Of The Ocean  was unlucky last start. Fitter now.

3.Zenkuro  won easily last start in a good speed rating. Drawn to get all favours.

Awapuni

Race 1

Confidence: 2/5

4.Butler 1st $2.50  looked good bolting in at new Plymouth. Up in class, but gets 2kgs off and with a good run, looks hard to beat. RP $3.00, $3.10

Race 2

An intriguing race. Chrissy Bambry mentioned to us in her interview a few weeks ago that she was very happy with Blondlign. If she can get a softish lead, she could pinch it. 8.Stumpy  is at his peak a with a nice weight advantage on all of these.

Race 3

Confidence;2/5

2.Bonny Ezra  is peaking now after two runs over ground. Goes well here. Nice eachway chance. RP $4.50

Race 4

Confidence: 2/5

4.Sir Nate 1st $4  did very well last start setting a good pace and fighting hard for third. Very fit and won well here before that. Drawn to get a good run on the pace. RP $4

Race 5

Confidence: 2/5

1.Deerfield  put in a top effort for third in the Group 1 last week. This is easier and he gets 3kgs off. Should lead again and be hard to run down. RP $2.80, $3.20 FF

Race 6

Confidence: 2/5

8.Zola Express looked good winning on debut and last start here closed off in the fastest last 200 metres. Drawn out so needs luck but if she gets it, can beat these with the freshen up. RP $4.20, $4.50 Ff

Race 7

Confidence: 2/5

2.Key  ran a top second last start against the boys and back against the fillies, with Lisa Allpress jumping on, she does look the one to beat. RP $3.70, $4.00

Race 8

Confidence: 2/5

5.Our Hail Mary 1st $3.70  is a very good mare and looks the one to beat. She will get back but with an even tempo at least likely, and with the inside likely to be off, she should get her chance to get over these with the blinkers going on at the right time third up. RP $3.20, $3.70 Ff

Invercargill

Race 4

It may only be an R74 race down in the deep south but it is a race I’m really looking forward to see. 5.Silent Battler has made some people a lot of money in his last two starts, including one subscriber. And he was hardly touched to win his last start when he had the toughest run in the race. The time and sectionals tell us he is going to win more as well. But he steps up to R74 grade here with a lot of early pressure in the race, so it will be a very good test for him. he is up against a course specialist though, 1.Easy Habit. With 3 wins from 4 starts here, and a slow to heavy track being ideal for him, he is definitely the one that will test Silent Battler. With plenty of speed he will get back, but this track suits his racing style and with a good track into it before the turn, he is going to be coming at Silent Battler who will have done more work than him to the turn. Suggested bet is to back Easy Habit to win and save on Silent Battler. Maybe for the trifecta, put in ex Northerner 7.Imblaze as she will relish any rain and has drawn well.

Race 6

Confidence: 3/5

6.Asathought is a very good mare who is going to win a few more races. She cleared out for an easy win here three starts back on a Heavy 10 track. Then she went to Riccarton and wasn’t happy on the firmer track then next up closed hard late from the back for a close second on a Dead 5 track. It is currently a Slow 7 with showers about so it isn’t going to get any better which will be ideal for her. She gets in on 53kgs and the only negative is she will get back and there is a only a moderate tempo likely, so it will need something to take over and set up a d3ecent tempo. If that happens, she can win well. RP $3.40, $4.20 FF

Race 8

Confidence: 2/5

8.Ritani  looks nicely placed here to win at her fifth start in the South island. Last start at Riccarton, in a stronger R74 field on a Dead 5 track and in season, she found the line strongly for third behind two handy Te Akau horses. The slow track will be much better for her and drawn to get a good run about midfield. gets 3kgs off this time, so look s a decent eachway chance. RP $4.50, $6.50 FF
