Race 7 $2630 on Posh Porotene $3.80 FF     Closing balance $11,580 which means a $30 for $10 payout if Posh misses and more if she wins. 2nd after a gutsy run from Our Hail Mary. Our Formpro Syndicate balance is now $6420 ( 3 times our opening balance ) As mentioned before, we will roll it over to Tuesday’s meeting. I’ll make sure I keep at least $2140 from it for the Tauranga one this Saturday.

New Plymouth

We have the Formpro Punters Club  Syndicate ( $2140 )  from Tauranga races on December 11 rolling into today’s on course Punters Club at New Plymouth. I’ll be trying to stretch it out over the two days ( 2nd day on Tuesday ) I’ll be posting the best from Race 3 to race 7 on this page just before each race.

Bet of the day Race 4 2.Bentayga $2.10 FF 1st $1.90

Value bet of the day Race 6 5.Celebre $4.40 FF 1st $4

Race 1

Confidence: 1/5

9.Kathie’s Choice  fought hard for second last start and fitter for that. Bred to relish 2000m so looks a nice eachway chance. RP $4.50

Dangers:

10.La Strata  drawn to get every chance with Lisa Allpress up.

Race 2

Confidence:2/5

13.Darci La Bella is a half sister to Tavi Mac and has won a recent jumpout and is set to win on debut. Not sure if Hazel is riding here today as she stood herself down from racing yesterday.

10.Honey Honey  ran s good third after being help up on debut. Drawn to get every chance. RP $3.350

Race 3

Confidence: 2/5

2.Maison Roxanne has run a strong second here to the top horse Tavi Mac on a heavy 10 track. She was a dominant winner last start at Pukekohe and being her fifth start back should have at least held that winning form. Drawn out but has the early speed to get 2nd outer or slot in one off and be the one to beat again. RP $$3.20, $3.50 FF

Race 4

Confidence: 3/5

2.Bentayga looked good winning his trail leading all the way and bolting away but drew wide in his debut and got back, but the way he came home for third in the best last 800m and 2nd best L600, 400 and 200, shows he is a nice horse. Strikes a weak field here. Drawn to land closer and be the one to beat. RP $1.90, $2.10 FF

Race 5

Confidence: 1/5 in an open race

1.Streak Of Power solid third here two back alongside Whoshe’s Girl then worked early at Whanganui , led on the turn and did well to hold on for second in a good speed rating. Gets 3kgs off.

9.Whoshe’s Girl has run two strong placings and with a freshener just needs a good run from the wide draw, to be hard to keep out with the 52kgs

2.Preakness looked good racing in New Zealand against better horses. Then went to Australia and in his last start settled 7th outer on a wet track and charged home for a close second.

3.Hot Spring Project  battled second up and the blinkers go on third up.

Race 6

Confidence: 2/5

5.Celebre  looked good last start when handy, gradually drifted back until out after turning in and unwound strongly late for sixth with good closing sectionals and the 2nd and 4th horses have since won out of it. 1600m looks ideal now. may snag and with an even tempo likely, get his chance to work into it and beat these. RP $3.50, $4.40 FF

Race 7

Confidence: 2/5

8.Posh Porotene  looked good last campaign winning two of her five starts leading all the way. Lisa Allpress stuck with here fresh up and they got the squeeze up and ended up last. She took off 600m out and was pushed very wide but loomed up and battled the last 100 metres- a definite improver’s run. Being out of the Fraser Auret stable too, she will be spot on now. Drawn to land on the pace and nicely weighted to be the one to beat. RP $4

Dangers:

6.Calpurnia  did very well here last start when she was 3 wide on the pace and led after turning, only to be run down by the handy Saigon Hot Night who had a cosier run. Won very easily before that. Drawn to get a good run in behind a couple here and relaxes well.

2.Our Hail Mary  is a very good mare who did very well to just get up on the bigger Awapuni track last start. Up t0 1800m suits but will get back and will need everything to go her way to win- the plus is there looks to be at least an even tempo. Will very likely be aimed for a Trentham race and may have had a few days off before this race. The market movement will tell the story about her chances and any comments from the trainer.

Race 8

Confidence: 2/5

6.Reliable Miss  won really well last start when expected too. She has always looked like a middle distance would be her forte so gets in here with 2kgs off. If they are swooping to win, she should be hardest to hold out. RP $3.00, $3.40 FF
