Update. We have at least $5,000 in the on course pool so approx $8,000 in total.
A quiet day after a big day yesterday. Levante had no chance after being trapped away and they ran their first 600 meters in 35.61 and last in 33.31. The GOAT walks his first 600m round the Whanganui race course in the morning faster than that! She didn’t get out till way too late and did very well to get up for third.
The Punters Club Syndicate with $3210 in, will be added to the on- course pool. The bets will be posted on he re from Race 3 to race 7.
I just can’t get into the Tauherenikau form as it is full of jumpout form and there are so many other options available over the next few days, why bother trying to guess what they have done?
Bet of the Day Tauranga Race 1 5.Les Crayeres $2.20 FF 1st
Value bet of the day Race 8 11.Force Of Will $4.60 Ff 1st
5.Les Crayeres is well bred and wanted to win last start. Should go on with it now against an average lot. RP $2.20, $2 FF
Confidence: 1/5 in a tricky little race.
3.Castani looked good winning fresh up and had a tough run second up. Gets 2kgs off. RP $4.50
5.Baby Face won very well last start in good closing sectionals relative to the day. She relaxes well and has always looked like she would excel over a middle distance. It is only a small field so Danielle will just jump and relax her as much as possible, as she does so well, then that will allow her to unleash her strong sprint. RP $2.80, $3 FF
5.Piping Hot last start was unlucky when held up from 800 metres out till it was all over and he ran home strongly with a bit to offer. He
7.Ever So Clever is a nice mare who has been looking for a middle distance. She relaxes well and has the breeding to see out a solid middle distance. Drawn to get a quiet run and use her powerful finish. RP $3.60, $4.80 FF
6.Lady Gwendolyn won well here last start in a weaker maiden field. Good run before that in a good speed rating.
5.Maktastic is a nice galloper who ran on well in his trials for placings without being over-exerted. On debut here, he drew well but just missed the jump and got back. He was held up on the turn and once balance up found the line strongly running the fastest last 200m of the race. But the notable thing was he was strong right through the line and around to the back straight where he was still getting into his work. Opie Bosson replaces Craig Grylls and it is likely they have an opinion of him and they want Opie to jump on and see if they agree. He is a three year old and if he wins this, becomes a Derby hope. RP $3.80
9.Hail Damage is bred to be successful over a middle distance and after two good placings in strong maiden fields. He has the early pace to make use of his good draw and maps to lead with Wiremu Pinn, who gets 2kgs off, is riding with good judgement, so he should get every chance.
8.Optimum Sweet had every chance last start when second to an average horse. Will improve with that and drawn well though, so looks the main danger.
10.Brimstone worked early here last start and closed off strongly late running 10.83 for his last 200 metres. Right at his peak now. Just needs a good track across from the wide draw to be hard to beat.
13.El Noir looked good winning her recent trial with race rider Danielle Johnson up, pinging out, settled 2nd outer, led turning in and held out Rapid falls who won well yesterday. She has a nice action and drawn well.
Confidence: 1/5 in a tricky little race.
1.Cummunique was an unlucky third here on debut when blocked going like a winner. She has won 4 races since then. Freshened up and can sprint well that way.
5.Romantic Lady is a tough mare but hasn’t raced over further than 1200 metres. She has a race fitness edge on most of her main rivals here as well as Opie to guide her round.
11.Force Of Will broke 11 seconds ( 10.96 and fastest of the day) charging home from the back here on debut for her last 200 metres. Drawn to land in a good position with Kozzi on board.
2.Side Eye good second last start and looks a definite improver from a good draw.
