Friday New Plymouth preview below

Update 11.20 a.m.

Race 1 Head to Head Khan Hunter $1.70  should land in front of Zinzan who looks like he needs 2000m or more and decent temp to be backed with any confidence. Khan Hunter should be a few lengths in front of him on the turn and in the big field, should be too much to claw back in the straight.

Race 2

No Nay Jubilee $1,65 to beat Jamaican Express. NNJ just looks a better horse and has drawn to run down JE over the last 100 metres.

$10 multi returns $28 Yes

New Plymouth Raceway – Updated by noon

The early preview of Saturday is ( updated by 2 p.m. ) here

Bet of the Day Race 4 3.Bold Mac $2.70 FF

Value bet of the Day Race 8 2.Bruno Magile $4.60 Ff

Speed Map Special Race 6 7.Brahma Sunset $3.60 FF

Race 1

The speed map shows a few looking to be handy but no obvious leader. Big field and with a short run into the first bend, should ensure a fast early pace and moderate to even from there.

6.Khan Hunter on debut from four back on the inner, was held up and then had to weave his way home running the best last 200 metres. Nice galloper who looks to have a win in him. He was a $130k purchase and debuted after four trials. Nice galloper and has early speed so if he can land 1 0ff midfield or better, he will be hard to beat. RP $5, $7 FF

1.Beadman  did very well off a tough run last start. The step to 1800m looks ideal and Lisa Allpress jumps on.

13.Ezdara drawn to get a good run and has rated well in better fields.

14.Nun Hissing  will appreciate the 1800m after some good runs in handy fields.

Other thoughts:

Race 2

1.Rangi Toa  looked very good winning his trial when he began evenly sitting on a slow pace and relaxed well, then strode away when asked to go with a stylish action for an easy win. Drawn wide here but after going through all of them, he looks like he should be able to slot in 2nd outer and from there be hard to beat. RP $2.60, $2.50 FF

3.No Nay Jubilee

She really impressed with the way she closed off in the best sectionals to run second after racing greenly and didn’t get the best trip. Drawn better here and will be improved by the run an experience. The negative is she was slow away in that race and was slow away in her trial before that. Getting back here with the rail out 9m is not good.

Race 3

3.Twitch  is a nice horse that should win at least a maiden from the strong Sharrock stable. He almost got up on debut over 1100m and the good draw and extra 100m means Danielle can get him into a winning spot behind what looks to be a decent tempo and be hard to keep out. RP $3.00

7.So Charming led and was run down in a good speed rating second up. Fitter now and drawn well.

6.Spacek  ran on well late on debut and is nicely bred. Could sneak into it at nice odds.

Race 4

3.Bold Mac  looked good winning his two trials. The last one he pinged to the lead and travelled well till, the turn and won with a bit in hand in good time. Drawn to lead or be second outer and be hard to beat on debut.RP $2.60, $2.70 FF

2.Court A Whisper  good run on debut and maybe the wet track and being second up combined to result in a poor run. If he can cross and get 2nd outer, he will be in it.

Race 5

The speed map shows plenty of early speed from gate 5 and wider so a good tempo likely suiting a runner getting a cosy run in behind.

9.Sumi is a good filly who will win more races. She has been freshened up and with the decent tempo very likely, should get the gaps and her chance to bury these late. Any market movement will give an indication of confidence from the stable. RP $3.60, $4.20 FF

Race 6

7.Brahma Sunset sat 2nd outer last start and faded out. The rider said he may be better ridden with a sit. He won both of his races leading so maybe from the inside draw, with a fitness edge and her main rival, Ocean Belle, likely to settle back, McNab could decide to lead and dictate , then be able to get a break on them on the turn and outsprint them. RP $3, $3.60 FF

4.High Achiever  has won twice fresh up and drawn well. Quiet recent trial. He can be a bit slow away but if he can jump and drop in behind Brahma Sunset, he will be in the right spot to make it three from three fresh up.

8.Ocean Belle  was slow away fresh up and did well to get up for third alongside Puysegur who almost won again next up. She is likely to settle 7th outer behind a moderate tempo and with the rail out 9m and a moderate tempo likely, she will need a perfect track into it to win, so $2.80 is a bit short.

5.Secret Squirrel could upset fresh up over 1200m, which I feel is his best distance. Has the best time over 1200m and could land 2nd outer or even lead.

Race 7

The speed map shows

Confidence: 1/5

11.Vishakha she didn’t really do much until she got to the straight but when she got out wider onto the better ground and balanced up, she really knuckled down to it running home in the fastest L400 26.25 and L200 13.39. Then was a close third fresh up over 1200m and up to 1400m suits here with 3kgs off this time.

7.Ironic  two strong runs and peaking with Lisa Allpress up.

4.Just Ben two good runs behind nice horses last two efforts. Drawn to get all favours this time.

10.Castle On The Hill did well to keep third after having a tough trip 3 wide on the pace. back to 1400m suits but wide draw doesn’t.

1.It’s Not That Easy  very good third on debut off a tough run. Just needs a better run here and will need Danielle to be at her best to get that run.

14.Waipapa  ran on late on debut after a slow start. Well bred and 1400m will suit.

Race 8

2.Bruno Magile has been rating strongly in better fields. No luck when caught 3 wide on the pace right handed at Ellerslie. Small field suits and could bury these late.

6.Florentia  improved nicely to run third second up. Up to 1600m suits and drawn to get a good run.

3.Mikjene rates on top after weight adjustments and will be leading or close to it. Game second two back.

Race 9

The speed map shows a few runners looking to lead or be close to it ensuring an even tempo.

Confidence:1/5 in an open race

2.Lucky Viking was swamped late after leading after turning in over 2100m. Senior rider won’t make that mistake and looks to have ability. RP $5

7.Cisjurane looked good winning her maiden last start at her first go over ground. Can only improve off that.

5.Bear Grylls  has been going good races in harder fields. Just needs a good run.

6.Mister Geronimo  good run in an R74 field last start. This is easier.

9.La Strata  drawn to get the right run with Lisa Allpress up/
