After watching the slogfest at Te Aroha on Sunday, I’m sure punters will appreciate the synthetic track much more now!

I’ll post an update by 10.30 with any head to head or other bets.

Race 2

Confidence: 2/5 3rd $2.10

7.Rising Storm ran on nicely in her first two starts then struck a heavy track and didn’t like it. last start here she began ok but was allowed to drift back to last. She tracked eventual smart winner Alpha Charlie into it, got a decent bump on the turn, but once balanced up really got into her work to run second in the second best sectionals behind the winner and the best of the four times over the 4 x 1550m races. So the better surface and extra distance were two plusses. She gets another plus here with Lisa Allpress sticking with her. Drawn out but there looks to be an even speed which is all she will need to allow Lisa to track into it again and be a solid eachway chance. RP $4, $5.50 in from $8 Ff Think the bookies got that opening price a little wrong.

Race 4

Confidence:2/5 1st $3.70

6.Duby  has needed the blinkers ( not visor blinkers) on since running second to two smart fillies, Waimoku Falls and Cornflower Blue. Last start here she ran a fair fourth over 1550m. Fitter now she drops back to 1300m with the blinkers finally going on. Drawn to get all favours and Smiling Joe gets 3kgs off. RP $3.50, $4.60 Ff

Race 6

Confidence: 2/5 $2.40

1.Encantador strong second to the smart Funtonic fresh up then fought well for second here last start too. Drawn to get all favours in the lead or trailing and with3kgs off and peaking this time, looks well placed. RP $3, $3.50 FF

Race 9

Confidence: 2/5 1st $4.20

3.Impressa did very well here last start when caught 3 wide in the open on the pace, led in the straight and was nailed late. Drawn the inside here and should get a nice trail and with Lisa Allpress replacing the apprentice, she does look the one to beat. RP $3.40, $4.20 Ff

Race 10

Confidence: 2/5 2nd $2.70

3.Shang Chi  looked good last campaign when being a bit unlucky on two occasions. Trailed up well here sitting 3 wide on the pace, leading turning in and holding on well. Likely to be snagged from a wide draw here and if they go hard enough, he can certainly power over these late. RP $5, $7.50 FF ( will probably pay more later. )
