Friday preview below

Update 10.15 a.m. : Two selections for the trots tonight:

Suggested multi Settle Petal Top 2 at $2.50 and Hooray Henry $2 top 3 $10 returns $50

Race 2 6.01 p.m.

Confidence: 2/5 Suggested bet 1 unit a win at $5.50 and 1 unit Top 2 at $2.50 Ff

4.Settle Petal 1st $5.50  two starts back at Cambridge won very well over 2200m in good time. Then last start here drew the second line, got back, then worked hard to get outside leader Manhattan 400m out and fought well considering the run she got. Plus, she dragged a flat tyre as well. Tony Herlihy is a top driver and she does look better when saved for the last go at them, so with good speed around her early, he is likely to look to ease in behind the early speed and settle 5th or 6th and from there, if they go hard enough, which is likely, she can get over them late. RP $4.50, $5.50 Ff

Race 5 7.21 p.m.

Confidence: 2/5 Suggested bet 1 unit ew at $7 and $2

9.Hooray Henry 4th after getting shuffled  won nicely last start from the same draw he has here, 1 on the second row. That was over 2700m but he has natural speed so should be able to hold Marathon mans back and secure the trail and get every chance to run him down, especially if the leader is taken on, which is likely midrace. RP $5, $7 and $2 place FF

Good morning,

Two well placed bets at Timaru today. Apologies no Heads Up today.  An early preview of Saturday will be posted by 4 p.m. There may be a couple of selections for tonight’s trots at Alexandra Park posted as well.

Bet of the Day Race 8 6.Diamond Riviere $4.40 FF 1st $3.50

Value Bet of the Day Race 7 1.Western Dream $4.60 FF Missed after being ridden incorrectly on pace.

Suggested multi with the above two for top 2 at $2.50 and $2.20 $10 returns $55

Timaru

Race 7

Confidence: 2/5

1.Western Dream at his last start the commentator said’ he took an age to warm up but did well to get within a length of the winner.’

That was over 1200m and the sectionals back that up as he was the only horse to break 13 seconds for his last 200m all day. So the step to 1600m looks ideal and he gets 4kgs off as well. Drawn to get a good run and does look well placed from the strong Tyler stable. RP $4.00, $4.60 FF

Race 8

Confidence: 2/5

6.Diamond Riviere two starts back beat subsequent 7 length winner Wendy Darling by 4 lengths when a close 2nd to Capital Gaines in faster time than the  Then last start she was subject to what was a shocking ride when she was kept wide, improved when they quickened then worked over time to lead, so to stick on for fifth in the slower inner ground was a remarkable effort. From the good draw here, she maps to get an ideal run and if she produces that run two back, she should beat these. RP $3.40, $4.20 FF
