Awapuni

Good morning. If you were on Even Chance yesterday you may have been thinking the same thing as me on the turn. ‘Has he gone too hard?’ But he hadn’t and won well after being strongly backed.

Some nice races today. It is important to look for runners here that race near the pace as that seems to a good advantage more often than not here.

Bet of the day Race 4 1.Bold Mac $3.50 FF 1st $4.30

Value Bet of the Day Race 1 7.Vesperado $6 FF 5th

Big Value bet of the day Race 8 1.Iron Eagle $26 and $6 FF Late scratched

Race 1

Confidence:2/5

7.Vesperado

Fresh up from a wide draw he had to work to get handy one off on a decent tempo, so did well to hold on for third in good sectionals. Looks a definite improver. Drawn ideally to get out and trail or be three back behind an even tempo. RP $4.50, $6 FF

Race 4

Confidence:3/5

1.Bold Mac  is a very progressive horse who looked good winning his trial when bouncing well to lead, settled well on a soft tempo, and was full of running down the straight. Drawn to get a winning run in the first four and Sarah McNab is riding really well so he does look tough to beat. RP $2.70, $3.50 FF

Race 6

Confidence: 2/5 1st $3

3.Sagunto led all the way two starts back over 2200m at Hastings. Then last start at Te Rapa just didn’t like the Slow track conditions which the rider commented about in the stewards report. So back on a Good3 over 2000m, where he should get an uncontested lead again, he nlooks hard to run down. RP $3.00, $3.50 FF

Race 8

Confidence:2/5

1.Iron Eagle drops back from two runs in much harder races at Hastings in R74 class. He can run time and has won an R82 race at Ellerslie on a good surface. The side winkers go on and the tongue tie. So third up and fitter, where he maps to get a good run, he is a realistic upset chance. RP $10, $26 and $6 FF
