8.Pozzi Vibe  ran a top 3rd at Pukekohe in a stronger 1600m maiden. He has since trialed up here in an open handicap and travelled very well 4th outer, was held up and closed off nicely for second. He looks to have strengthened up and learnt to race better in his last few starts. The heavy track will suit him. RP $2.80, $3.00 FF

6.Magawa 1st $4  was awkwardly away fresh up but did well to get up for second. Before that she looked impressive winning her trial at Ellerslie on a Dead to slow track. Her action says she may handle it but Opie will be looking for the best strip and if they get it, can win. RP $2.80, $3.00 FF

15.Jakkalnuts 1st $2.70   is a half brother to Derby winner Gingernuts so the step from 1400m to 1600m looks ideal now. Fresh up he got back, was closer by the turn, was held up, and found the line strongly  for 5th in the second best last 200 metres, indicating she needs more ground. Her action is ideal for a slog and she gets 2kgs off. Will likely get back but if they are swinging wider to win, that will suit her. Strikes a  very weak field so looks well placed. RP $2.20, $3.00 FF

Danger:

12.Gallivanter is nicely bred and ran home strongly for 2nd in a recent trial here with a good heavy track action.
