Saturday preview

With heavy 10 tracks at both venues it makes it hard to back anything with real confidence. I feel that Imperatriz at $1.90 is too short and the Sharrock duo of Tavi Mac and Butler will be all out to beat him. The best value bet is the $75,000 quaddie at Te Rapa.

Bet of the Day Te Rapa Race 6 1.Tavi Mac $8 FF

Value Bet of the Day Te Rapa Race 2 4. Flat Track Bully $8 FF

Suggested quaddie for $52.80 for 10% is: ($26.40 for 5%)

R5   25612
R6   1711
R7   121011

Te Rapa

Race 2

4.Flat Track Bully has been going very good races and looks a solid eachway bet here. His last race was at Tauranga and he would have definitely finished second with a clear run. He was held up before the turn and then was held up again when looking to have plenty to offer. There are question marks over the two favourites with the heavy track and wide draw. RP $4.50

Race 5

5.Cakebytheocean won like a good horse last start and while it is a tough field, he should be hard to beat. RP $4, $4.20FF

6.Encierro is a good horse and can’t be left out.

12.Windspeed has won his last two races very well and steps up in distance. Drawn well.

2.Viktor Vegas ran home strongly fresh up and will appreciate the extra ground

Race 6

The speed map.

1.Tavi Mac has won each of his four fresh up runs! He has had two trials. The first he cruised to the line in front and the second home he ran a close third to to Lickety Split, who won last week, in a sprint home. He handles wet tracks well and is ready to win again fresh up. He maps to get an economical run and is a great each way bet. RP $5, $8 FF

11.Imperatriz won well with 60kgs on her back fresh up in excellent time. She is better off in the weights here and looks the obvious one. BUT, her action and her record says she doesn’t like a real heavy track. Yes, she won her debut on a heavy but beat nothing. The two times she was really tested she ran 3rd and 4th. So $1.90 is too short.

7.Butler  is the up and comer and this is his biggest test so far. He eats heavy tracks for breakfast and has won here in good time and trialed up really well.

Race 7

1.Arjay’s Flight has had two runs back now and should be ready to run a peak effort.

2.Onezedbee ran on gamely in the slower ground last start and is close to a win.

10.The High Priestess  is better than maiden class but not sure how she will go the heavy stuff.

11.Hiwa ran home very strongly last start second up and with her peaking now, and the light weight. has to be in.

Race 8

This really is a field job as you make a case for most of them. In order: 9, 16, 5, 6, 11 and 14

Race 2

4.Nobellem drew wide and sat 3 wide on the pace last start and fought on really well for second. The third horse, Make Time, has since won so he looks a good bet. RP$3, $3.50 FF

The rest of the fields there look very open and best left.
