Hastings

Our track walker says,  ” It is a puggy track and looks even across the track. It may play better than a Heavy 10 track.”

Update 8.45 am It is a very heavy track now with the rain about.

 Race 1

Confidence:3/5

14.Arjay’s Flight won decisively last start in maiden class and jumps to R75 class. But he ran 2nd to La Crique last season over 2100m  and has been racing as though he wants more ground. From the inside he should get a good run and be very hard to beat. There has been plenty of money to say he can. RP $3.20, $3.80 FF

Race 2

Confidence:1/5

In an open race 12.Movin’ On ran a very good race fresh up for second after being 3 wide on a heavy track beating some good horses. Drawn well and good each bet. RP $10, $21FF

Race 3

Confidence:2/5

3.Rocktillyoudrop has been given a freshener since going good races at Riccarton and gets 3kgs 0ff. Drops back in class. If he begins well should lead and prove hard to run down. RP $4.50, $5 FF

Race 4

Confidence:2/5

2.Deerfield won well last start and with the rain about and a very testing track, he can lead and if not taken on too much, will be hard to run down. RP $5, $8 FF

Race 5

Confidence:3/5

2.Fellini  was very good winning fresh up with a strong finish and a good action. Should get a good run and looks the one to beat. RP $2.90, $3.00 FF

Race 6

Confidence: 2/5

5.Sea Monarch has had two runs back now and ran a strong second last start. He won second up and and gives every indication he will go a top race third up. RP $5, $7.50 FF

Race 7

Confidence:3/5

1.Pacific Dragon  should get the lead here and should be uncontested. She handles a wet track and she is best left handed and with Michael McNab on, should be rated well. RP $2.80FF

Race 8

Confidence:1/5

9.Ridgeview Chief bolted in last start and handles heavy going well. A must include.

10.La Bella Beals  looked very ready to win when trialing well for second. Opie Bosson up.

11.Seresin  is a nice horse and with the right run can do it.

5.Old Town Road goes well on the course and ok on wet tracks.

Race 9

Confidence:4/5

How do they beat 8.Imperatriz after that win at Te Rapa! She was decisive and being WFA, gets in well at the weights. The wide draw ensures she can stay away from the inside which should be cut up by then. Only bad luck beats her and I can’t see that happening with Opie on. RP $1.40, $1.70FF Boosted

Dangers:

1.Demonetization  closed strongly in the Foxbridge in the best last 200m behind the winner. He will appreciate the extra ground and trained by Nigel Tiley. Exacta with Imperatriz is $10 FF and excellent value.

Race 10

Confidence:2/5

8.Don’t Ask could not have been more impressive in his two runs and although up in class, his times suggest he will be the one to beat with Lisa Allpress up. RP $3.50, $4

Dangers:

10.Mustand Valley ran atop race fresh up and is right in this.

Ruakaka

Race 2

Confidence: 4/5

2.Hit The Road Jack won decisively hare last start and will be even better on a Good 4 track. On a winning weight and should win. $1.40, $1.75 FF

Race 3

Confidence:2/5

1.Fifita has the early speed to lead and if she gets left alone, which is likely, can hold on. She is very fast. RP $4, $5.50 Ff

Race 5

Confidence:3/5

1.Sharp ‘N’ Smart is being aimed at a Cox Plate. He’s had a couple of trials and claims 3kgs, so if he is to be a chance should win this. $1.70, $1.75 Ff

Race 6

Confidence:2/5

2.Waimoku Falls ran on nicely fresh up at Taupo and will be fitter for that. Drawn well and should get a nice run. She will appreciate the better ground. RP $4.00, $4.50 FF

Dangers:

5.Silverina has won her last two impressively and 1600m suits.

Race 7

An open race. In order: 2, 3, 1, 6, 9.

Race 8

Another open race. In order: 3, 12, 8, 6, 2.

Race 9

And we finish on another raffle race.

5, 4, 2, 1, 8, 4
