Te Rapa
Race 3
Confidence:3/5
5.Enright won well at Tauranga and quickened stride in the straight. His closing sectionals were the best in the race and he broke 12 seconds for the last 200 metres. He maps to get a good run behind the speed and can make it two in row. $3.00, $3.50FF
Race 7
Confidence: 2/5 1st $7
1.Clever Ruds maps to lead here and when she is right, she is very hard to get past. She showed that when winning three in a row last season running good times. She has had two runs back now and is ready for a peak effort. The map shows that if she jumps well, she can lead and it is unlikely that anything will take her on, so she can lead all the way. RP $5, $7.50 FF
Riccarton
Race 4
Confidence:3/5
6.Maria Farina ran some very good races last season and showed that she was ready to go a big race fresh up when winning her trial comfortably in the second fastest time for the 11 heats. Craig Grylls takes the mount and should be hard to beat. RP $3.00, $3,30 FF
Race 6
Confidence:2/5 1st 3.50
7.Second Thought ran a very good second to Belle Of The Ball fresh up then ran the best closing sectionals for fourth last start when the tempo didn’t favour her at all. With two starts for two wins over 2000m, she looks very well placed for Michael McNab. RP $3.80, $4.40 FF
Race 7
Confidence: 2/5
10.Belle Of The Ball fought on well for fourth after working to get handy. She maps to do little in the running, and unlike many of these, won’t be using it as a warm up for Cup next week. She has a very good 200m sprint and if she can be saved for that, will take a power of beating. RP $4.50, $6 FF
Race 9
Confidence:2/5 1st $3.50
1.Pier won well at Matamata, in top sectionals, on a Soft 5 track and stretched out like he will only be better on Good track. He maps to get an ideal run in the first four with a moderate pace and be the one to beat. RP $3.20, $3.50 FF
Flemington
Race 8
Confidence: 3/5
7.Anamoe won the Cox Plate strongly and has drawn to get a similar run. He is well suited to the Flemington track. He knows how to win and James McDonald rides again. $1.80, $2.00 FF
