Saturday 31 December preview below

Update 11 a.m.

Race 1

Head To Head Love Letter $1.85 to beat Bugatti. See Love Letter preview below. Bugati’s form is all on wet tracks and he maps to get a tougher run than Love letter. And he needs to improve a few lengths.

Multi Race 2 1. Midnight Hustler Top 3 $1.50 FF $10 returns $27.70 Yes

Hastings

Not a lot of form to go on but I’ve sorted out three runners that look well placed. I’ll post any head to head bets if there are any by noon.

Bet of the day Race 5 2.Podium $2.30 FF

Value Bet of the Day Race 3 4.Gracie Lee $4.20 FF 3rd

Race 1

Confidence:2/5 1st $9

7.Love Letter ran some good races last campaign and can run time. She has the best speed ratings and 2nd best Formpro Ratings on a better track. Last start against a much stronger field at Trentham, she was caught 4 wide in the open and then improved to 3w cover and moved closer on the turn, but that earlier effort took its toll and she was eased down. This is a much weaker field and she almost won here last campaign. She ran 3rd to La Crique also.  She gets in on 55 kgs and is an each way chance. RP $5, $8 FF

Race 3

Confidence:2/5

4.Gracie Lee won well fresh up at Tauherenikau coming from the back ( wide draw and snagged) and getting up. And her recent trial win was very impressive when trailing and going well, took over on the turn and bolted clear full of running and loving her work so she is ready to go again fresh up. Good speed in the race and she should sit off it and come with the last run. RP $3.50, $4.20 FF

Race 5

Confidence:3/5

2.Podium put in a powerful finish from behind midfield to get up in a $50k R75. It was an on pace too. That makes it 3 wins from 4 starts. She has drawn handy here and should land in the 1×1 and against a weaker field, despite the weight rise, should prove too good again. RP $2.00, $2.30 FF
