Saturday preview 7 January 2023 below

Update 11.11 am. Not knowing what the weather is going to do has made it too hard to recommend anything.

With the rain looming in the afternoon, it is a sit and wait job to see when it comes. If there any head to head bets, I’ll p0st them by noon.

Bet of the Day Race 3 3.Shamus $1.65 1st $2

Value bet of the Day Race 2 7.Rocababy $5 FF 1st $4.20

Multi of the Day Shamus and Ladies Man $10 returns $29.70. ( Bonus Back Bet up to $50 on Shamus if 2nd, 3rd or 4th. )

Race 1

6.Flerta put in a sustained run two starts back when a close third to Incubo. Then last start didn’t get a go at them in the straight and was full of running. She steps to 2200m here and looks like a natural stayer and can beat the favourite here, Esme, as she has had her chances and is too short. RP $4.00, $5.00 FF

Race 2

Confidence: 2/5

7.Rocababy is a  good filly as she she showed when beating Romancing The Moon fresh up at Whanganui. She won again next start and forgive the run last start when she lost an iron. Trentham will suit her. RP $4, $5 FF

Race 3

3.Shamus won decisively fresh up and even though he rises in weight, he should deal to this field. A very smart horse. RP $1.40, $1.65FF

Race 4

Confidence: 1/5

An open race these in rating order on a slow to heavy track. 1,6, 4, 7, 12.

Race 5 First Leg of the quaddie.

It all depends on what the weather is like. 1. He’s A Doozy, despite the weight and break, is the one to beat on a Soft 7 but on a worse track, he probably will get beaten with the weight. Stablemate 6.Belardo Boy is weighted to win and with there being plenty of speed in the race, will get it run to suit. Won’t mind the rain. 2.Colorado Star rates best on a Heavy 8 or worse track. 5.Kelly Coe wouldn’t want it any worse than a Soft 7.

Race 6

9.Another Bella is another who wouldn’t want it worse. The trainer Robbie Patterson, said recently she wouldn’t want any more rain. If they get none, she is the one to beat. If it comes, then it throws it open. 7.The Seagull, 8.Lurid 12.Bear Grylls and 16. Divine Spirit all rate on top on a heavy track.

Race 7

Confidence: 3/5

6.Ladies Man won strongly last start at her first start over ground and will only be improved by that. Gets in on a winning weight and hard to beat on any track condition.  RP $1.60, $1.80 FF

Race 8

4.Pride Of Aspen is the one to beat here, especially if the rain arrives. She won well back to back races then may not have travelled too well to Riccarton. RP $3.20, $3.20 FF.

5.Absolutely Maybe won her trial well and handles a heavy track.
