Race 2

Confidence:2/5 3rd

6.Outback Opal won really well here off a tough run in a good time off a tough run, beating a subsequent winner. Then he sat 3 wide with cover and ran 5th to three very progressive horses. Back here on a wet track suits and drawn to get a good run. RP $8, $16 and $4.20 FF

Race 4

The speed map shows a moderate to even tempo.

Confidence:3/5 1st $1.90

1.Tokyo Tycoon is unbeaten and was a class above them in KM. He won on a soft track on debut and ran some amazing sectionals to win the KM. He has draw wide but that will only ensure he gets a clear run 5th outer, and if the inside is off, he is more favoured. Well suited in the weights and very hard to beat. RP $1.50, $1.70 FF now $1.50

Race 7

The speed map shows an even speed giving all horses their chance.

Confidence:3.Pignan 3/5 3rd $2 strongly on a true soft track at Trentham then ran on late for third on a Good track in the quickest last 400 and 200 metres. The rain that is forecast is ideal for her as she has a high knee action. A recent trial win topped her off nicely for this. She maps to land 6th outer with an even pace up front, and if the inside is off, her chances will increase. RP $3.50, $9 and $2.20 making her excellent value.

Race 8

Confidence:3/5 1st $4.20

2.Colorado Star should lead these and based on his last win, where he set an even pace and ran home in excellent sectionals in an excellent race time for the 1800m, he can lead all the way. The 2000m should be ideal. RP $3.00, $5.00 FF

Otaki

Race 1

Confidence:3/5

9.Belcamina  was held up late when she had plenty to offer. Then next start jumped on terms, settled back, and ran on very strongly in the best sectionals.  Drawn well and with not a lot of speed in the race, can settle behind the leaders and be in the right place to strike. RP $2.80, $3.30 FF

Race 3

Confidence2/5

8.Express Yourself did well at Trentham when 2nd outer on an even pace, and fought hard for second. With the scatchings, she may go forward although Craig Grylls said he would go back with the early speed. But with many scratched, he may go forward. She won well here and won a recent trial well. RP $3.20, $3.20 FF

Race 7

Confidence:3/5

7.La Crique 2nd can get an uncontested lead here and in a sprint home, they won’t catch her. She is very smart when right and last start got kickback from the sand and finished on well. She has been freshened up in training and Craig Grylls will look for the lead no doubt. RP $2, $2.80 FF
