4.Canheroc was beaten by the slow tempo of the race and was flying home for fifth in the fastest closing sectionals. There should be a better tempo in this and Matt Cameron from the good should settle closer and he won’t be caught out this time. RP $3.20 , $2.50 FF

3.Alabama Gold in his recent trial showed his usual early speed to lead, with Oneira on his outer, and Oneira was urged to run him down late. Alabama Gold was allowed to go to the line untouched. Oneira has gone onto winning form. He looks a powerful galloper, gets 3kgs off, and is trained by a master. Should lead or be on pace and be hard to run down. RP $5, $7.50 FF

13.Gwen’s Daughter when she won at New Plymouth really impressed me winning in faster time than the Open Handicappers did it easily. She has had two runs back for a strong second last start when working to second outer from the wide draw and ran a clear second. Will be spot on for this and drawn to get a nice tuck in behind a solid speed. RP $7, $13 FF

9.Zaila jumped with them and got into a good spot and was a class above them. Her time was very good as were her sectionals. 1500m suits ideally third up and Michael McNab should suit her. RP $5, $7 FF

6.Doddle impressed last campaign when winning second up here over this distance. When she raced at Riccarton and was late clear and ran second to a good horse. Then fresh up over 1100 she drew wide and was allowed to settle last but ran home very strongly and through the line for third. She looks stronger now and ready to strike good form. Michael McNab rides. from a good draw. RP $3.00, $4.20 FF
