Te Rapa
Race 1
Confidence: 2/5 2nd
4.Red Sea has grand dam Egyptian Raine in his bloodlines and she won a Railway and had speed to burn. Red Sea showed that speed and cornered really well and won well. Drawn 1 and she can lead all the way. RP $3.00, $3.60 FF
Race 2
Confidence:2/5
5.After Party has been relishing the distance increase as she showed when winning for the first time over 1950, the maximum distance she has raced over. She steps to 2200m today and should get a soft run near the pace with Sam Spratt on board and has a very good sprint. So if she can time it right, she can make it back to back wins. RP $4, $4.50 FF
Race 3
Confidence:2/5
1.City Gold Ready ran on strongly for second in a good speed rating on debut. He definitely looks an improver on a better surface and more ground. Out of a 6 win mare. RP $3.80, $4.50 FF
Race 4
Confidence:2/5
9.Fancy Like raced much better in front last start and won well in a good speed rating. She was behind others at her previous start and got keen. She maps to lead or be second outer and a moderate pace should be set, so she should get every chance from there. RP $4.50, $4.80 FF
Race 5
Confidence:2/5
1.Ka Ying Lucky won on debut sitting 3 wide in the open beating 4 subsequent winners. Then went onto good form. In his recent trial he sat 2nd outer and coasted to the line. He is ready to go with Lisa Allpress on board from a good gate and maps to get every chance. RP $3.50, $4 FF
Race 6
Confidence:2/5
3.Jodelin Gal gets in well at the weights and was an unlucky third last start and second was Skew Iff who has gone onto excellent form. The speed map says there will be good tempo and from the good draw, should cover no extra ground and get every chance. RP $8. $12 and $3.20 FF A good place bet.
Race 7
Confidence:2/5
11.Martell ran on late and wide two starts back here and won strongly from a better draw last start . Drawn ideally here and with a light weight. A good eachway chance at double figure odds. RP $8, $12 and $3.50 FF
Race 8
Confidence:2/5
14.Family Ties ran an improvers 3rd here last start at her 3rd start back from a spell. Lisa Allpress jumps on from a good gate and she maps to get a winning run with the right weight. When she is 100% she is a very good mare. RP $5, $7 FF
Canterbury
Race 1
Confidence:2/5
17.Motion Time with Warren Kennedy on board rates on top in the Formpro Ratings and should be on pace and get every chance. RP $5, $6 FF
Race 5
Confidence:2/5 1st $9
5.Not Guilty worked to the lead last start and setting a fast pace, so it was no surprise to see him run down. That was over 1400m. Kept fresh for this and if he can begin cleanly, he can work for the lead and lead these all the way. $4.50, $6 FF
Race 6
Confidence:2/5 1st $4.20
11.Kana won impressively last start and the sectionals say she can cope with the rise in class. Drawn ideally and J Parkes will give her every chance. RP3.60, $4.50 Ff
Race 7
Confidence:2/5
13.Mehzebeen won against the slow tempo last start and is a classy mare on her way up. She is not racing in the NZ Cup so will be one trying to win it here. RP $6, $9 FF
Race 9
Confidence:2/5 1st $1,50
1.Concetti is unbeaten in 5 starts and has been well prepared for this with an ideal lead up. He has drawn 1 and looks the logical winner. But logic doesn’t always win races. The only way they will beat him is if it is a truly run race and even then he may still win. But $1.45 is too short as there is doubt over him seeing out a strongly run 1600. RP $2.00, $1.45 FF
Dangers:
2.Burn To Shine is perfectly drawn to get a nice run about 4th or 5th, and the way he has been leading up to this he will relish a strongly run 1600 and be great chance of finishing in the top three. RP $1.70, $2.50 FF
