2.Stylish Officer won very well fresh up sitting 3 wide on a good pace and had every excuse to tire over the last 100m. But instead he kept going and won beating Francee. who won impressively at Pukekohe next up. The speed rating was the fastest all day. The question is was he flattened by that? He just battled on a Good track last campaign second up after winning fresh then sat 5 wide at Trentham over 1200 on a heavy track and ran a top 3rd. So I think a Soft 7 will suit him ideally and he has trained on the right way. Matt Cameron sticks with him too and he maps to get a winning run. RP $2.80, $4 FF

7.Stella Splendida was lame fresh up and showed she was over that by winning an R75 race at New Plymouth easily in excellent closing sectionals in the context of the race. She looks set to improve further third up and has won here and on a Soft 7 and has Opie on board. So she has a lot of positives and looks very hard to beat. RP $1.70, $1.90 FF

3.Smooth Operator third up last start ran a very good 3rd in an on pace race. He settled midfield, got wider on the turn and was coming hard when he ran behind the horse in front and had to be taken wider and got hampered late, and in the best closing 400 and 200. He ran a good race fresh up and struck a good field second up at Riccarton. The extra 200m is ideal for him and he rates 4 lengths clear of this field on last start runs and he looks a definite improver. There looks to be an even pace in this race which will allow him to snag back and come with the winning run. RP $3. $4.80 FF

4.Westwood is making his southern debut and she looks well placed to make it a winning run. She was just beaten by Legarto and some other good horses and beat home Petrucci ( 4th ) when finishing 3rd to Puketiro. She trialed on the Riccarton Synthetic and ran a strong second after being allowed to settle well in behind. There is a good pace in this and she may take a sit from the inside barrier or may lead, depending on how she begins. Either way she should get every chance of winning and rates a few lengths clear of this field. RP $2.00. $3.00 FF
