Weekly review ending 31 March 2024

The Ugly Sister Race 6 Matamata 27 March

She settled midfield and was a dominant winner in the best closing sectionals. The race time was similar to better class races and she can go on with it.

Composure Race 1 Ellerslie 30 March

She went back from the wide draw but came home in the best closing sectionals for fourth with an interrupted run. When she drops back to R65 grade she will find it easier.

Queen Zou Race 3 Ellerslie 30 March

After trailing the leader she came strongly for second in the fastest last 800 metres of the race and was strong through the line. Over 1400m she will be harder to beat.

Marengo Race 4 Ellerslie 30 March

He was given an ideal trip in the trail and when let loose won easily in the fastest closing sectionals of the day and in fast time. Now that he has that confidence builder, he can make the step up in grade a successful one.

Puketiro Race 5 Ellerslie 30 March

After a slow start she got back and they didn’t go hard p front. So to win this in very good sectionals shows she has very good ability. One to follow.

Jolted Race 7 Ellerslie 30 March

After being taken back from a wide draw, he came home in the fastest closing sectionals. She has won in Australia and looks like she can win more races here.

You Know Race 8 Ellerslie 30 March

He drew wide and jumped first but was allowed to drop back in the big field. He came home strongly to almost win in the best sectionals and was in front just past the post. He is ready to win, maybe over more ground now.

Medina Race 3 Riverton 30 March

She dropped back to last and came down the outside with a stylish finish for sixth. She ran the fastest closing sectionals by far and this newcomer to South Island racing looks a next up winner.

Astradeel Race 8 Riverton 30 March

He was strongly backed to win and almost got the Easter chocolates but ran into a good one in Prince Alby. When he drops back in grade he should go one better.

Riviera Rebel Race 9 Riverton 30 March

This was a very good win by the 3yo. He set an even pace and then kicked away to win easily in a better time than the R65 race just after it. He should make the step up in grade a successful one.
