Saturday preview

There are three Good Confidence bets, Platinum Pantheon, Mr Mojo Risin, and Starclan. I have previewed the Rotorua card and there are a few good value bets but don’t spend too much on them.

Enjoy the ride

Neil

Bet of the Day Waverley Race 8 2.Mr Mojo Risin’ $2.80 FF 1st $2.70

Value bet of the day Rotorua Race 9 4.Starclan $9 now $6 with deductions

Multi of the day with the two above – $10 returns $168

Gold Coast

Race 8

Confidence:3/5 Top 3

6.Platinum Pantheon last start in a strong race, the wide draw meant he had to snag back to last in the big field. But then he put in a very good horse’s last 600 in 33.51 to get up for second in a fast race time. He goes over at the top of his form, drawn well and is excellent value for a place. RP place $2.20, $5.50 FF.  RP $5 for win and $26 FF

Waverley

Race 8

Confidence:3/5 1st $2.70

2.Mr Mojo Risin’ fresh up was caught 3 wide in the open and faded over the last 200m. The trainer said he was in need of the run before the race. He won second up at his last two campaigns and looks well placed to make it three from three second up. Riverplate is the only other that leads so they should get things their own way sharing the pace, and he has run the times to say he can lead all the way. RP $2.70, $3.30 FF, $3.70 Odds Surge

Rotorua

Race 1

Confidence:2/5 Bonus Back Race 1st $6

4.Circus Dancer is third up and peaking. Last start she raced in the stronger Cambridge Breeders Stakes and used petrol to get 2nd outer, then only faded in the last 50 metres. She has an ideal heavy track action and races on the speed. RP $5, $9 FF

Race 2

Confidence:2/5 Bonus Back Race

7.Sombr is ready to go very good race on debut. He won his first trial at Ellerslie from a wide draw and eased back and wide, but came with a strong run down the outside to win in 33.36, which was one of the quickest all day! He then trialled at Avondale and was away well, trailed, and came home strongly with a good wet track action to win easily. Drawn well and opened at $9.50 and is into $5.50 so most of the value has gone. But he looks good horses and he should go close to winning this. RP $4.50, $5.50 FF

Race 3

Confidence:1/5 in an open race Bonus Back Race

14.Vadanova ran a terrific race here fresh up last campaign when midfield, got shuffled back, go clear late and flew home for a fast closing third in the best sectionals. She then won next up. She handles wet tracks well and is a decent upset chance as there looks to be plenty of speed in this. RP $8, $31 into $21 and gets in on a light weight.

Race 4

Confidence:1/5 in an open race. Bonus Back Race 1st $6

9.Loch Katrine goes ok here and handles a wet track well with her ideal wet track action. She trialled recently and was allowed to drop well back and was doing her best work late. RP $$7, $10FF

Race 5

Confidence:2/5

7.Amira D’Argento won strongly last start in this grade and gets 3kgs off again. Looks a strong eachway chance. RP $4, $4.80 FF

Race 6

Confidence:2/5

14.Slick Chick went a very good race second up for a game third. She prefers a wetter track and gets in on a light weight and is ready to win. RP $7, $14 FF

Race 7

Confidence:1/5

9.Donnybrook has to be the value bet here. He beat Proboy fair and square last start giving him 1 kg and they are level weights here. He is paying 3 times the price and has an ideal wet track action. RP $10, $20 FF

Race 8

Confidence:2/5

4.Bedtime Story ran second in this race last year and is in the right form to go close again. Drawn out which will be a plus. RP $6, $9.50 FF

Race 9

Confidence:3/5 4th and had his chance

4.Starclan won strongly fresh up and looked good doing it. He is looking stronger as a 5yo. Then he got back last start in a strong R65 race at Te Rapa, and had traffic problems from the turn. He finished looking like he had a couple of gears to go through, He has drawn to get the right trip midfield off the rail and with rain forecast to get the track into the Soft/heavy, come down the outer and win. Joe Doyle jumps back on too. RP $3.50, $10 FF in from $11. Now into $6 FF
