Selections

Friday preview now posted

Good morning,

Just the six races today and some interesting runners that I feel a ready to win at reasonable value. Platinum Sixty Six is one of those in the second race. Not a meeting to carried away on though but hopefully we have found a couple of value winners. We have had a good week and I’ll have the early preview for tomorrow up by 6pm. I have used AI for the selections along with my own input. Apologies for the delay this morning.

Enjoy the ride.

Neil

Race 1

Confidence:2/5 Bonus back race

5.Runaway Princess has hit the hard in her last two starts here and is ready to win. The negative is she will likely drop back off a moderate tempo, so rider Madan Singh is going to have to make a back straight move to get handy. She is a dour stayer and if he does that, she is very fit and can out-stay these. RP $4, $5 FF

Dangers:

2.Laser Beam has been brought down here to try and strike a weaker field than she has been racing against and she has struck it. Likely to get an uncontested lead and if they leave her alone, is the one to beat.

1.Almalane Has gone some nice races in better maiden fields. Has had a couple of goes over jumps and that may have sharpened her up.

6.Street Appeal is a false favourite. She is mapped to trail Laser Beam, but she only battled last start for fourth and the above two should 3 beat her home.

Race 2

Confidence:3/5 Bonus back Race and is a good bet with the Bonus back up to $50

1.Platinum Sixty Six went a big race last start over 1700m when he was caught 4 and 5 wide early from the wide draw, moved up down the back straight 3 wide in the open, led on the turn and was still in front 7 strides from the post, then fought well for fourth. A change of rider sees the apprentice replaced by Chris Dell here and from the inside draw, should settle in the trail or midfield inner, and with the moderate to even pace predicted, he just needs to get out near the turn, and he should be very hard to keep out. He has the fastest time of any of these over the course and distance. RP $3.00, $5 FF

Dangers:

6.Keepitinyourwallet gets a 2kg allowance but can only claim 1kg. He should lead or be second outer and with the pace favouring the first half of the field, she can fight on for a placing with the lighter weight.

2.Subtle Image is an out and stayer that is suited to a slog home, so if he can get out and put the pressure on early, he is a good place chance.

1.Sir Mikki just keeps on giving and he won off a top ride last start. Will need another one to win this with more weight,

Race 3

Confidence:2/5 with 1, 2 and 4 needed in the quaddie

2.Carbon Credit did well fresh up over 2140m here when he drew wide, worked hard for the lead after 600m then fought on well for fourth. He drops back to 1700m here and is a nice looking galloper. Gets 1 kg off. Drawn wide but has early pace, so it will be interesting to see if Chung uses it or snags to back for cover. Either way, he can win. RP $3.60, $4 FF

Dangers:

1.Richard Farrell has had plenty of chances but maps to get an ideal run on the pace and get his chance to break through.

4.Our Mitch had no luck last start when 3 wide at the back off a slow pace and the inside was an advantage. he moved up on the turn but weakened. Blinkers go on from a good draw, and is the upsetter.

Race 4

Confidence:2/5

4.Ruji ran a big race here fresh up when he drew out, got back wide with cover, then kept up a sustained finish to finish a close second beating many of these. If hasn’t been flattened by that run, and I doubt if he has, and if he can snag back for cover from the wide draw, get an economical run with an even pace predicted up front, he can run over these late with the 2kg allowance. RP $5, $8 FF

Dangers:

3.Wonderboy has had two runs back now and should be ready for a peak effort. Should lead and if left alone a bit, can kick on these and prove hard to run down.

6.Redana ran a close third last start here and has drawn to get every chance.

1.Victortheinflictor should be fitter third up, likes the synthetic and gets a couple of Kgs off.

2.Texas is from the Myers stable and can easily win this. He has won an R65 at Ellerslie with 60kgs and drawn well with a 4kg apprentice up.

Race 5

Confidence:2/5 in an open race with good speed.

4.Smashing Sister has run two very good races on the Cambridge synthetic in above average times over 970m. She begins fast and should land 2nd outer and lead and fights right the line so 1200  should be ok. RP $4, $5

Dangers:

4.Chart The Stars is suited to this as she will get back off the solid pace and get her chance to get over them late.

1.Vittorio Vineto won his trial very easily and is set to go fresh up. Drawn wide and has a big weight, but is a very good sprinter and with the right run, can win.

3.La Dulcinee has drawn wide but has the best 1200m times here and if Jim Chung can give him a good ride, can win.

Race 6

Confidence:2/5

1.Doubtful Sound has had two runs back now and had no chance last start when he drew wide and began well but had to snag back for cover and they didn’t go hard he ran on ok late. He has by far the best times here and has drawn well this time, gets 2kgs off, and can win. RP $4, $6

Dangers:

8.Anaroa ran a good race last start when snagged back, moved round wide when the sprint went on, and fought on well for 4th wide out. Third up and fitter and gets 4kgs off.

3.Shez Shamus is third up and won that way last campaign on a good track at Te Aroha. If she can cross and lead, will be hard to beat.

4.Dazz goes well fresh and has had a few trials to get him ready. From the Gray stable.
