Reviews & Sectionals

Weekly review ending 4 August 2024

Comacho Race 5 Ruakaka 3 August

He sat three wide with cover about midfield, came wide on the turn and closed off in good sectionals for third. He just needs a decent draw next up to be harder to beat.

Turnmeon Race 8 Ruakaka 3 August

He was restrained at the start and got back. On the the turn he got out wider and stormed home in the best closing sectionals. From a good draw next up, he should go very close being at peak fitness now.

Tarvos Race 3 Riccarton 3 August

He got back from the draw and then unleashed a powerful finish to win easily although a bit green. His sectionals were very good. It was only his second start back from a spell and will prove very hard to beat next week if he starts.

Epee Beel Race 4 Riccarton 3 August

An awkward start meant she settled back and then she looked as though she was going to come through and win, but battled the last bit. Her sectionals were still good and she should be fitter for the run.

Margherita Veloce Race 7 Riccarton 3 August

She got back but closed off in strong sectionals for second. She looks set to go one better next week.

Patsy’s Lad Race 7 Tauranga 31 July

He was seventh on the fence and hit the rail 950m out. It took him a while to recover but he flashed home along the rail for second. He may be eight now but based on that he can win again.

Sheaf Race 7 Hawera 4 August

She settled in the rear on the inner and then got out wide and came home with strong late strides in excellent sectionals. When she steps over more ground watch out for her.

Belle Laurel Race 8 Hawera 4 August

She settled back and wide and ran home very well for third in good sectionals. She run two good races after a spell now and looks set to strike winning form third up.

Mr Twinkletoes Race 10 Riccarton 3 August

After settling midfield three wide with cover, he ran home strong for second while the winner had a cosy run in the trail. His closing sectionals were very good and he is one to be on next Saturday.

Tonia’s Dragon Race 6 Riccarton 3 August

She came home nicely for second in very good sectionals. She will be ready now to go one better.
